where 25 kHz channel spacing is being used. This proposal which was
agreed to by the WG is in Appendix P, should be further coordinated
within ICAO.
9.4 The meeting received a demonstration using simulation software which
simulated a VHF transceiver control panel in an airplane. This software
simulated the control for a transceiver that is 25 kHz DSB AM, 8.33 kHz
DSB-AM and VDL Mode-3 capable. It demonstrated how the number of
digits shown on the transceiver control-head display was consistent with
the SARPs amendment approach in Appendix P, based on the selected
mode of operation.
10. Future Work
10.1 Further work is required to address the on-board integration issues with
VDL Modes 2,3 and 4 in particular with regard to interference to and from
analog voice on VHF radios.
10.2 Work will proceed on the splitting of the AMSS Core SARPs and Guidance
Material.
10.3 Work is also expected in the area of the concept of ADS-B polling with
regards to AMSS.
10.4 Additional work is also expected on the log-on procedures in the event of
a satellite failure as well as the concept of satellite usage for Automatic
Dependent Surveillance.
10.5 Complete outstanding Action Items in the list contained in Appendix D.
10.6 The meeting noted proposed action to be taken by the ANC on Conclusion
14/17 of APANPIRG (Use of SATCOM Voice for ATS) in which the task
was referred to the Secretariat with the request of developing a global
policy for the use of SATCOM Voice for ATS-functions. It was not clear
which ICAO body is currently working on this and the Secretary was
requested to ensure that any on-going activity on this subject would
include co-ordination with OPLINKP and ACP. The relevant background
information is in Appendix Q.

11. Next Meeting
11.1 The meeting acknowledged that the work and submission of Amendment
Proposals for SARPs and Manual will be further decreasing after this
meeting.
11.2 Noting this, and the urgency required to solve some outstanding issues, it
is envisaged that the next meeting would be of a five to seven day
duration.
13. Closing
13.1 The Secretary and the Rapporteur thanked the Regional Office for the
kind and generous hospitality and the wonderful service and support
provided.
