25 Additional information
2.2.1 States may decide to add additional informatian to the
noise certification documentation at their own discretion.
Caution should be exercised to ensure that the information provided
will not be c o n k d with the official noise certification
levels. In particular, noise levels taken under conditions other
than the noise certification conditions should be clearly marked
as supplementary information. The adchtional ~nfonnation
should be placed ~n a ''remarks" b x or in separate boxes. These
boxes should nor be nurnkred in order to avoid non-s~andardized
n u m m g and to allow for futm modifications to the
nunbering system. The tmx or boxes should contain a r ~
adequate description of what additional infwmation is provided.
Exnmple of possible additional information arc pmvidcd in
22.2 through 2.2.7.
In order to facilitate recognition, the logo or symbol and the
name of the issuing authority may be added.
2.2.3 Noise limits
If added. noise limits should be given according to the subject
noise requirements and should be quoted. to the nearest tcnth
of a dccibcl, in the appropriate unit. If national noise requirements
usc different limits (more or less stringent). this should
be clearly marked. and in order to avoid cor~fusionth e ICAO
limits should also be quotcd.
States issuing their noise certification documentation in a
language other than English should provide an English translation
in accordance with Annex 6.
Reference to national requirements can be combined with
Item 18 or can be added as a separate item.
Other modifications fmm the basic aircraft mndel ac specified
under Item 5 and and Items 7 through LO to aid further identification
of the noise configuration can be provided at the discretion
of the State of Registry. Note that any modifications
required to meet the Standards to which any document is
issued should be reported under ltem 12.
If the SW of Registry limits the validity of the noise certification
documentation, it should include the date of expiry.
2 3 Formats for noise certification
documen tation
2.3.1 In view of the wide variety of administrative needs
for systems for noise certification documentation. three alternative
standardized options are provided:
I) A stand-alone noise certificate in which the mandatory
information requirements of Annex 16, Volume I. are
contained in a single dnclment.
2) Two complementary documenrs of which one may be
the aeroplane flight manual (AFM) or the aircraft operating
manual (AOM).
3) Tbrec complementary documents.
2.3.2 Option I. One clmrtment
The hrst option is an administrative system in which thc
document attaring noise ccnification takes ~hcfo rm of a scparate
noise certificate that contains all the items identified in
Pari 11, Chapter 1. 1.5 A standard fmmat is pmvidcd in
Figurc C-l States using this format may dcviate from this

includc any addit~onal itcms. It should howcvcr be gcncrally
similnr to Figure G-I. Note that not all itcms will bc
mentioned on every noise certificate. For instance. no1 all
Items 13 through 17 will be mentioned on one noise ccnrficare
since thcy are not all applicable to every chapter. Normally.

and be at the same time. If a noise certificate has lost its
valid~ty, I( should be suspended or revoked to avoid the situation
that more than one noise certificate is current for an aircraft.
If multiple documents for this option have been issucd
it should be easy to determine which documcnt is applicabk at
any given time.
2.3.3.1 The second option is an administrative system
consisting of two documents in which the first official docu-

only Itcms 1 through 6 and Itcms 18 through 20 of 2.1. This
can be either lo the form of a (limited) noise certificate or in
the fonn of a certificate of airworthiness for those States rhat
include noise requirements in their atrworthiness requirements.
In the lancr case. there is no need for Item 18 (statement of
compliance wilh reference to Annex 16) since compliance is
implicit. The numbenng of the items in the certificate of airworthiness
will be according to the convetltion in Annex 8 In
