Confidential Reporting - Immunity
• Limited regulatory immunity against third-party reports (Statement by
Chairman CAA), but not against gross negligence / wilful acts
• Public Interest Disclosure Act (1998) provides employment/civil protection
to individuals in relation to “Whistle-blowing”. - yet to be tested legally in
Air Transport.
• Exposure minimised through processes
• Not essential, but commitment to provide limited immunity provides
incentive to reporters with little risk to the appropriate Regulatory Authority
