FMC Performance Predictions - Non-Normal Configuration
1.30 - Added information about FMC performance predictions when
operating in a non-normal configuration.

RNP and RNAV Operations
1.31 - New section added that replaces the previous section titled "Required
Navigation Performance (RNP) Operations". This new section expands the
RNP discussion and adds information about RNAV operations.
Automatic Flight
1.36 - Modified the note to recommend that the PM makes the PF aware of
any altitude changes the PM makes on the AFDS.
1.37 - Added an example of a situation where the pilot may need to reduce the
level of automation to manual flight in order to maintain flight path control.
1.37 - Modified recommended preferred pitch mode for altitude changes of
less than 1,000 feet to make better use of FLCH logic.
Turbulent Air Penetration
1.38 - Changed "high/low speed maneuver margins" to "high/low speed
margins". The high speed margin is a structural speed margin.
Chapter 2 - Ground Operations
Taxi Speed and Braking
2.5 - Added a recommendation to use approximately10 knots for turn angles
greater than those typically required for high speed runway turnoffs.
2.5 - Changed the note about the use of reverse thrust during taxi with an
expanded discussion on this subject.
Turning Radius and Gear Tracking
2.6 - Turning Radius diagrams showing nose, tail and wingtip arcs have been
relocated to Volume 2, Chapter 1 of the FCOM. Added general information
about turns during taxi and a diagram showing nose and main gear tracks
during the turn.
Turns of 180 Degrees
2.8 - Added information about 180° turns on narrow taxi surfaces. This
information reflects experience gained at various ETOPS alternate
runway/taxiway locations.
Chapter 3 - Takeoff and Initial Climb
Takeoff Profile
3.2 - Modified Takeoff Flight Pattern to match the revised flight pattern that
will appear in the QRH during 2005.

Takeoff - General
3.3 - Changed the recommended FMC display for the PF on takeoff. By
displaying the TAKEOFF REF page, the V speeds are visible which back up
the display on the flight instruments.
Initiating Takeoff Roll
3.5 - Corrected chapter number for the unreliable airspeed section.
Rotation and Liftoff - All Engines
3.7 - Added recommendation to avoid the use of stabilizer trim during
rotation. Use of stabilizer trim during rotation may contribute to a tail strike.
Effect of Rotation Speed and Pitch Rate on Liftoff
3.9 - Modified the Slow or Under Rotation diagrams to show how a slow
rotation rate or low target attitude increases the distance to a height of 35 feet
compared to a normal rate and attitude. Previous diagrams, computed upon
airplane certification, used conditions that were inconsistent over time. New
diagrams use consistent conditions and give a better indication of the actual
effects of slow rotation rate and low target altitude.
Center-Of-Gravity (C.G.) Effects
3.10 - Added section titled Operation with Alternate Forward Center of
Gravity Limit for Takeoff. This section is intended to make pilots aware of
this method and to explain its benefits. Flight crews learn how to calculate
and apply the alternate forward CG method during performance training.
Directional Control
3.12 - Removed section titled Wind Corrections because wind corrections
must be used in conjunction with airport analysis and performance dispatch
calculations.
Gusty Wind and Strong Crosswind Conditions
3.12 - Modified the recommendation to always use maximum takeoff thrust
during gusty or strong crosswind conditions. In the opinion of several
operators, this recommendation was too restrictive. Recommendation
modified to use a higher thrust setting, up to maximum takeoff thrust
depending upon conditions.
Reduced Thrust Takeoff
3.13 - Modified section by placing general information first followed by
specific information for ATM and Fixed Derate takeoffs.
Fixed Derate (As Installed)
3.14 - Relocated information on location of takeoff speeds to the beginning
of the section.
