2. GROUND PROXIMITY WARNING SYSTEM (GPWS) (IF INSTALLED)
A. First Flight of the Day
(1) GPWS/GS switch/light.......................................Press in and hold until “SINK RATE”
aural message comes on.
Check the following come on:
• “GPWS” aural.
• GPWS FAIL status
message.
GPWS FAIL status message
goes out after aural warning
stops.
B. During Flight
Ground proximity alerts are indicated as follows:
• “GLIDESLOPE”, “PULL UP”, “SINK RATE”, “TERRAIN”, “DON’T SINK”, “TOO LOW
TERRAIN”, “TOO LOW GEAR”, “TOO LOW FLAPS” aurals.
• GPWS or GS lights on.
(1) Airplane flight path or
configuration....................................................... Correct
3. ENHANCED GPWS AND WINDSHEAR DETECTION AND ALERTING SYSTEM
(IF INSTALLED)
A. Before Flight − First Flight of the Day
(1) PULL UP/GND PROX switch/light.........................Press and release to initiate test.
Check the following come on:
• “GLIDESLOPE” aural.
• “PULL UP” aural.
• Siren and “WINDSHEAR,
WINDSHEAR,
WINDSHEAR” aural.
• “TERRAIN, TERRAIN,
PULL UP” aural.
B. Before Flight
If airport is not in enhanced GPWS database or if GPS is not available during QFE
operations:
(1) GPWS TERR INHB switch/light ........................Press in Check GPWS TERR INHB
lights on.
C. During Climb
(1) GPWS TERR INHB switch/light ......................Press out Check GPWS TERR INHB
lights out.

D. During Descent
Within 15 NM of approach, if any of the following conditions apply:
• Runway is less than 3,500 feet in length, or
• Airport is not in the enhanced GPWS database, or
• Intended approach is not compatible with enhanced GPWS terrain awareness alerting,
or
• QFE operation with no GPS available.
(1) GPWS TERR INHB switch/light ........................Press in Check GPWS TERR INHB
lights on.
E. Ground Proximity Warning During Flight
Ground proximity warnings are indicated as follows:
• “TERRAIN, TERRAIN, PULL UP”, “OBSTACLE, OBSTACLE, PULL UP” and “PULL UP”
aurals.
• PULL UP lights on.
When a ground proximity warning occurs, immediately initiate a smooth pull up and advance
thrust levers to maximum take-off thrust, ascend at the best climb angle until all alerts cease,
and it is confirmed that a safe ground clearance exists.
F. Ground Proximity Caution During Flight
Ground proximity cautions are indicated as follows:
• “CAUTION TERRAIN”, “CAUTION OBSTACLE”, “TERRAIN”, “TOO LOW TERRAIN”,
“TOO LOW GEAR”, “TOO LOW FLAPS”, “SINK RATE”, “DON’T SINK” OR
“GLIDESLOPE” aurals.
• GND PROX lights on.
(1) Airplane flight path or
configuration....................................................... Correct
G. Windshear Warning
Windshear warnings are indicated as follows:
• (Siren) “WINDSHEAR, WINDSHEAR, WINDSHEAR” aural.
• WINDSHEAR warning message on PFD.
NOTE
The autopilot (if engaged) will automatically disconnect and the
flight director bars will be removed within two (2) seconds after
a windshear warning.
During take-off, approach or landing:
(1) Thrust levers.....................................................Advance to maximum take-off thrust.

G. Windshear Warning (Cont’d)
(2) Airplane ............................................................... Rotate smoothly to go-around/take-off
pitch attitude, and allow
airspeed to decrease, if
necessary.
NOTE
Stick shaker must be respected. Reduce pitch attitude sufficient to stop
shaker.
If airplane is descending:
(3) Pitch attitude..................................................... Increase smoothly and in small
