1. HYDRAULIC POWER
WARNING
Due to automatic hydraulic system start-up during flaps selection,
ensure that all control surfaces and the hydraulically-operated nose
door area are clear before actuating the flaps selector, or before
turning on the hydraulic 3A pump.
NOTE
When ambient temperatures are greater than 40°C (104°F), avoid
prolonged ground operations with the hydraulic system operating.
A. Before Start
(1) HYDRAULIC pump switch 3A ..............................Check selected to OFF.
(2) HYDRAULIC pump switch 3B ..............................Select to ON.
Check the following:
• HYD 3 LO PRESS caution
message out.
• 3B pump pressure is
greater than 1800 psi on
HYDRAULIC synoptic page.
• 3A pump outline is
unpressurized (white) on
HYDRAULIC synoptic page.
(3) HYDRAULIC pump switches 1B
and 2B ..................................................................Select to ON.
Check the following:
• HYD 1 LO PRESS and
HYD 2 LO PRESS caution
messages out.
• 1B and 2B pump pressure
is greater than 1800 psi on
HYDRAULIC synoptic page.
(4) HYDRAULIC pump switches 1B,
3B and 2B.............................................................Select to AUTO.
(5) HYDRAULIC pump switch 3A ..............................Select to ON.
B. Before Take-Off
(1) HYDRAULIC pump switch 3A ..............................Check selected to ON.
Check no HYD 3 LO PRESS
caution message displayed.
(2) FLAPS ..................................................................Select to 20°.
Check no hydraulic system
caution messages displayed.

1. ICE AND RAIN PROTECTION
NOTE
During operations with continuous ignition selected, igniter status
can be verified as follows:

AT LEAST ONE IGNITER IN USE ON
EACH ENGINE
IGNITION A/B
AT LEAST ONE IGNITER IN USE IGNITION A OR IGNITION B
A. External Walkaround
Visually check the following:
(1) Engine cowl ..........................................................Check the following:
• Cowl anti-ice blowout plug
is flush with skin.
• Cowl leading edge for
evidence of discoloration or
deformation.
B. Ice Detector Test – First Flight of the Day
(1) ANTI-ICE, TEST switch........................................Select to DET.
Check ICE message on.
C. Windshield/Window Heat Test – Before Each Flight
(1) ANTI-ICE, WSHLD/WIND L and R
switches................................................................Select to HI.
(2) ANTI-ICE, WSHLD/WIND, TEST
switch ....................................................................Press and hold. Check the following:
• L and R WSHLD HEAT OK
advisory messages on.
• L and R WINDOW HEAT
OK advisory messages on.
(3) ANTI-ICE, WSHLD/WIND L and R
switches................................................................Select to LOW, unless icing,
precipitation or other
conditions that could cause
fogging or misting to occur.

D. Wing Overheat Detection System – Before Each Flight
With the engines not running, check the operation of the wing overheat detection
system as follows:
(1) ANTI-ICE, WING switch .......................................Select to OFF.
(2) ANTI-ICE, TEST switch........................................Select to WING.
Check the following:
• WING OVHT warning
message on.
• “WING OVERHEAT” aural.
• WING L HEAT and R HEAT
lights on.
