B. Towing By Hand
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE AIRPLANE IS ON LEVEL GROUND. IF YOU
TRY TO MOVE THE AIRPLANE ON GROUND THAT IS NOT LEVEL,
YOU CAN LOSE CONTROL OF THE AIRPLANE.
Detail Steps/Work Items Key Items
(1) Attach the tow bar to the nose wheel strut.
Lock the pins of the tow bar with the sliding
strap of the tow bar.
Refer to Figure 1
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE TOWING AREA IS CLEAR OF OBJECTS. AND
MAKE SURE THE WINGS DO NOT HIT ANYTHING.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE WHEEL CHOCKS AT HAND. IF THE
AIRPLANE BRAKES SHOULD BE DEFECTIVE, YOU MUST BE ABLE
TO STOP THE AIRPLANE.
(2) Release the airplane parking brake.
(3) Remove the wheel chocks.
CAUTION: DO NOT PUSH OR PULL THE CONTROL SURFACES WHEN
TOWING. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CONTROL
SURFACES.
(4) Move the airplane to its new position.
(5) Put wheel chocks in front and behind the
main wheels.
(6) Remove the tow bar. Refer to Figure 1
(7) Operate the parking brake.

C. Towing With A Towing Vehicle
CAUTION: IF YOU TOW THE AIRPLANE WITH A TOWING VEHICLE, ONE
PERSON MUST BE IN THE COCKPIT TO OPERATE THE BRAKES IN
AN EMERGENCY.
Detail Steps/Work Items Key Items
(1) Attach the tow bar to the nose wheel strut.

CAUTION: THE NOSE WHEEL STEERING ANGLE IS 64° TO THE LEFT AND
64° TO THE RIGHT. IF YOU TURN THE WHEEL MORE THAN 64°
TO THE LEFT OR THE RIGHT, YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE
NOSE GEAR.
(5) Move the airplane to its new position.
(6) Operate the parking brake.
(7) Put wheel chocks in front and behind the
main wheels.
(8) Remove the tow bar from the towing vehicle
and the airplane.

D. Pushing Or Pulling The Airplane
You can also move the airplane without using a tow bar. You can push the DA20-C1 at the wing
tip and at the wing-fuselage connection.
If you have a limited area to maneuver the airplane, you can use 2 people to turn the airplane
around the main wheels. One person must push down on the front of the vertical stabilizer,
while the other person holds on to the wing tip.
CAUTION: NEVER USE FORCE ON THE PROPELLER OR ON THE CONTROL
SURFACES. YOU CAN DAMAGE THE PROPELLER AND THE
CONTROL SURFACES.
CAUTION: NEVER APPLY WEIGHTS TO THE TAILPLANE TO LIFT THE NOSE
WHEEL. YOU CAN DAMAGE THE TAILPLANE.
CAUTION: NEVER TOW THE AIRPLANE IF THE WHEELS ARE BLOCKED BY
SNOW OR MUD. YOU CAN DAMAGE THE LANDING GEAR.

CHAPTER 09-20
TAXIING
1. General
When you taxi the DA20-C1 you use the toe operated brakes to steer the airplane. To make the
airplane turn operate the left or the right toe brake.
WARNING: DO NOT TAXI THE AIRPLANE UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN TRAINED
TO TAXI. AND YOU HAVE BEEN AUTHORIZED.
CAUTION: THIS SECTION GIVES GENERAL DATA ON TAXIING ONLY. YOU
MUST USE THE DA20-C1 FLIGHT MANUAL WHEN YOU TAXI THE
AIRPLANE.
2. Taxiing Procedure

(1) Make sure the area around the airplane is
clear of objects.
For example: ground equipment and tools.
(2) Operate the parking brake.
(3) If necessary remove:
− the wheel chocks
− the tow bar
− the mooring ropes
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE NO PERSONS OR OBJECTS
NEAR THE AIRPLANE. THE AIRPLANE CAN INJURE PERSONS.
AND OBJECTS CAN DAMAGE THE AIRPLANE.
(4) Start the engine. See DA20-C1 Flight Manual.
(5) Release the parking brake.
