OIL -DISTRIBUTION -COMPONENT LOCATIONS
Component Locations
These oil storage and distribution components are on the left side of the engine:

Last chance oil strainers are on the fuel/oil cooler outlet manifold, HPC case, and turbine exhaust case.
*
Fuel/oil cooler and bypass valve is on the HPC case at the
8:30 position.
*
Lubrication and scavenge oil pump is on the aft face of the main gearbox.
*
Main oil filter is on the front of the main gearbox.
*
Oil system pressure relief valve is on the main oil filter housing.
*
Engine air/oil heat exchanger and valve are on the intermediate case.
*
Engine oil tank is on the fan case.

OIL -DISTRIBUTION -LUBRICATION AND SCAVENGE OIL PUMP
Purpose
The lubrication and scavenge oil pump supplies the pressurized oil to lubricate the engine bearings and gearboxes. The pump also scavenges oil back to the oil tank.
Location
The pump is on the rear of the main gearbox at the 6:00 position.
Physical Description
The lubrication and scavenge oil pump contains six positive displacement, gear-type pumps. One pump is for the lubrication oil and five pumps are for the scavenge oil.
On the bottom of the pump, there is one chip detector for each scavenge line (not shown).

OIL -DISTRIBUTION -MAIN OIL FILTER AND OIL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE
Purpose
The main oil filter removes contamination from the engine oil.
Location
The main oil filter housing is on the front left side of the main gearbox. The servo fuel heater is on top of the filter housing
The oil system pressure relief valve is on the front of the main oil filter housing.
Main Oil Filter
The filter element (not shown) has a primary filter and a secondary filter.
The oil filter differential pressure switch monitors the condition of the primary filter element. See the oil indicating section for more information (SECTION 79-30).
