OIL -STORAGE -TRAINING INFORMATION POINTS -SERVICING

General
You must fill the engine oil tank for any of these conditions:
*
Normal servicing

*
After replacement of an oil system component

*
An engine oil change.


The oil tank access door and the oil tank sightglass door are on the left fan cowl.
Engine Oil Level
Examine the engine oil level between 15 minutes and two hours after engine shutdown.
If the engine was stopped for more than two hours, the engine oil drains into the main gearbox. You must dry motor the engine until the oil pressure is stable. This causes the engine oil in the system to return to the engine oil tank. This makes sure the oil level indication is accurate.
NOTE: The engine oil can expand from heat during the engine
operation.  This can cause the sightglass oil level
indication to be above the full mark. This is permitted.
If the oil quantity indication on the secondary engine display is more than 23 quarts or the oil level is in the green area on the sightglass, you do not need to add more engine oil. If the oil quantity indication on the secondary engine display is less than 23 quarts or the oil level is below the green area on the sightglass, you must add engine oil to the tank.

Engine Oil Servicing (Gravity Fill)
WARNING: BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE ENGINE OIL TANK CAP, YOU MUST STOP FOR A MINIMUM OF FIVE MINUTES AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN TO LET THE OIL PRESSURE BLEED OFF. THE HOT OIL CAN CAUSE INJURY TO YOU.
WARNING: DO NOT OPEN THE ENGINE OIL TANK CAP IF THE SIGHTGLASS OIL INDICATION IS ABOVE THE FULL MARK. IF YOU DO OPEN THE CAP WHEN THE ENGINE OIL IS ABOVE THE FULL MARK, HOT OIL CAN FALL FROM THE FILLER OPENING. THE HOT OIL CAN CAUSE INJURY TO YOU.
CAUTION:  DO NOT MIX TYPES OR BRANDS OF ENGINE OIL WHEN YOU ADD OR REPLACE THE ENGINE OIL. IF THE OIL TO BE ADDED IS DIFFERENT THAN THE OIL WHICH WAS DRAINED, THE REMAINING OIL WHICH IS TRAPPED IN THE ENGINE AFTER THE ENGINE IS FULLY DRAINED (WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY ONE QUART) WILL NOT CAUSE DAMAGE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR.
Add the correct engine oil into the filler neck until the oil starts to flow into the scupper drain. The stable oil level in the sightglass is now in the green area.
