TIP -ENGINE DISCONNECTS (LEFT)
When you change an engine you must disconnect many things. You make the disconnects above the fan case and above the engine core just below the strut.
Fan Disconnects
There is a fan/strut disconnect panel above the fan case. The left side of this panel contains five electrical connectors and the left fan cowl PDOS hydraulic tube.
Core Disconnects
There is a core/strut disconnect panel on the left side of the engine that attaches to the bottom of the strut. The panel has eleven electrical connections.
The core/strut disconnect panel also has a strut drain line connection on the forward side of the panel.
The IDG terminal block is immediately forward of the core/strut disconnect panel. This is where the airplane power feeders and IDG power feeders connect. The airplane power feeders go through the front of the core/strut disconnect panel.
When you change an engine, you must also disconnect the left thrust reverser aft cowl load share strap and remove the pressure regulating and shutoff valve (PRSOV).
Training Information Point
The engine wires have these colors that show their purpose:
*
Blue -EEC channel A signals
*
Green -EEC channel B signals
*
Gray -non-EEC signals
*
Yellow -thermocouple signals.
Each engine wire harness bundle has a white tracer cord on the outside of the bundle. You use the tracer cord to set the position of the engine wire harnesses correctly when you install the wire harness. The tracer cord should face out (radially outboard) when you install the wire harness correctly.
