Inlet Cowl
The inlet cowl supplies a smooth airflow into the engine. The inlet cowl weighs approximately 700 lb (320 kg).
Fan Cowl
The fan cowl is aft of the inlet cowl. It attaches to the fan cowl support beam on the fan case and opens for maintenance. The fan cowl panel weighs approximately 250 lb (115 kg).
Thrust Reverser
The thrust reverser is aft of the fan cowl. The thrust reverser attaches to the strut and opens for maintenance. The thrust reverser half weighs approximately 1700 lb (770 kg).
Turbine Exhaust System
The turbine exhaust system is aft of the thrust reverser. The system has two parts:
*
Turbine exhaust sleeve
*
Turbine exhaust plug.
The turbine exhaust sleeve weighs approximately 75 lb (35 kg). The turbine exhaust plug weighs approximately 90 lb (40 kg).

ENGINE COWLING -INLET COWL
The inlet cowl controls the airflow into the engine fan. The inlet cowl is a single assembly. The inlet cowls for the left and the right engines are interchangeable. The cowl includes components:
*
Electrical connections
*
Engine anti-ice (EAI) supply duct
*
Powered door opening system (PDOS) actuation and control switches
*
Hoist points.
Electrical Connections
Three electrical connections are at the 11:00 position on the aft bulkhead of the inlet cowl. The connections are for the PDOS switches and the P2/T2 probe.
The P2/T2 probe measures the pressure and the temperature in the inlet cowl. The probe information goes to the EEC. There is a single P2/T2 pneumatic line connection also at approximately the 11:00 position.
EAI System
The EAI supply duct is at the 5:00 position on the inlet cowl. It gives thermal anti-ice air to the inlet cowl.
The EAI exhaust duct is on the bottom of the inlet cowl at the
7:00 position. It permits thermal anti-ice air from the inlet cavity to flow overboard.
The EAI duct in the inlet cowl has a shroud. It bleeds air into the fan compartment if the duct breaks open.
PDOS Actuation And Control Switches
The PDOS opens the fan cowls and the thrust reverser halves. Two PDOS switches are on each side of the inlet cowl. The fan cowl switches are at the 4:00 and the 8:00 positions on the inlet cowl. The thrust reverser switches are at the 4:00 and the 8:00 positions on the aft bulkhead of the inlet cowl.
