PORT A. PORT A comes from the ACARS CMU.

-Data keyline to key the transceiver
-Data in and data out
-Voice/data select discrete. This discrete selects the VHF

transmitter to send audio from the remote electronics unit (REU) or data from the ACARS CMU

Miscellaneous Solid-State Switch Module
The ACARS CMU receives analog discretes from the miscellaneous solid-state switch module. These discretes determine the OUT, OFF, ON, and IN (OOOI) times:
-Out of the gate
-Off the ground
-On the ground
-In the gate

The ACARS sends standard reports of the OOOI times. These discretes supply the status for these components:
-Air/ground sensor
-Parking brake
-Forward entry door
-Aft entry door
-Forward and aft cargo doors
-Forward and aft service doors
E11 Landing Gear Logic Shelf
The E11 shelf provides parking brake position and air/ground sense provide discrete signals to the CMU.
NOTE: On the 737-700 the Proximity Switching Electronics Unit
(PSEU) takes the place of the E11 Logic Shelf and
Miscellaneous Solid-State Switch Module functions
ACARS Aircraft Personality Module
The APM provides aircraft registration, aircraft type, configuration and airplane identification code to the CMU.
Program Pins
Program pins define the ACARS options and tell ACARS that it is on a 737-300/500 or -700.

ACARS - POWER, DISCRETES, CALL AND COMMUNICATION INTERFACE
General
The ACARS CMU receives this data: -Uplink data from ground stations -Discretes from sensors.
After the CMU processes the received data, the CMU sends this data: -Downlink data to ground stations
-Chime signal to the aural warning module

Power
The ACARS CMU receives 115v ac from Elex bus 1.
The ACARS CMU also receives 28v dc from bus 1 for the aural warning
output signal generation.
Call Interface
An uplink message tells the flight crew there is an ACARS message.

When a message comes, the ACARS CMU gives these indications: -Chime from the aural warning module. Further activation of the chime is disabled until the crew selects the new message for display on the MCDU. Once all messages have been displayed, the chime will be re-enabled for future activation. -The CALL light is illuminated on the MCDU when ACARS is not selected on one of the MCDU’s and an uplink messaged is received by ACARS.
