ACARS Aircraft Personality Module
The APM provides aircraft registration, aircraft type, configuration and airplane identification code to the CMU.
Program Pins
Program pins define the ACARS options and tell ACARS that it is on a 737-300/500 or -700.

ACARS - DIGITAL INTERFACES Digital Inputs
The ACARS CMU gets these digital inputs:
-Data entries and menu selections from the MCDUs
-FMC downlink data
-Report data for downlink from the DFDAU
-Software loads from the data loader control panel
-Input from printer (Provisions only).

Digital Outputs
The ACARS CMU supplies this digital data:
-Data and menus to the MCDU and alert messages for the scratch
pad
-Uplink data to the FMC
-Report request uplink to the DFDAU
-Status to the data loader
-Output to the printer (Provisions Only).

Flight Management Computer Interface
The FMC/ACARS interface allows uplink and (downlink) of FMC data from or to the airlines ground computers via the Communication Management Unit (CMU).

-Aircraft position information
-Fuel quantity

DFDAU
Upon request, the DFDAU can provide aircraft condition monitoring system (ACMS) information to the CMU. This information can be downlinked to engineering for evaluation purposes.
Printer Provisions
The aircraft are wired for a printer, but this capability is not being utilized at this time.
