-ACARS NO COMM - ACARS is not in range of a VHF ground station.
-NO COMM, MSG NOT GEN - Attempt to generate a down link while the CMU is in NO COMM, and the downlink is not intended to be queued while in NO COMM.
-BUFFER FULL, MSG NOT GEN - Attempt to generate a downlink, and the downlink buffer is full. -INVALID ENTRY - Attempt to enter data into a field and the data does not pas the validation criteria of the data field. -NOT ALLOWED -Data entry is attempted for a non-modifiable
field.
-CLR - CLR key is pressed
-ACARS CMU FAIL -ACARS management unit failure
-ACARS ALERT - ACARS requires flight crew action.
The SP key is the space key for typing text messages.

ACARS - MULTIFUNCTION CONTROL DISPLAY UNIT Purpose
The flight management computer system multifunction control display unit (MCDU) gives you an interface with the ACARS system. It lets you enter, send, and review downlink/uplink data. The MCDU shows ACARS messages in the scratch pad.
The status of the sub-systems shows on the MENU page by the label <ACT> to the right of the active sub-system. The label <REQ> shows to the right of a sub-system if it is not active but has sent a request to the MCDU to request operator attention.
Features
The MCDU has a MENU key that selects the menu. From the menu page, you can select the flight management computer system (FMC), ACARS, or the aircraft conditioning and monitoring system (ACMS). To make the system active on the MCDU, push the line select key (LSK) adjacent to the system prompt.
