Digital Outputs
The ACARS CMU supplies this digital data:
-Data and menus to the MCDU and alert messages for the scratch
pad
-Uplink data to the FMC
-Report request uplink to the DFDAU
-Status to the data loader
-Output to the printer (Provisions Only).

Flight Management Computer Interface
The FMC/ACARS interface allows uplink and (downlink) of FMC data from or to the airlines ground computers via the Communication Management Unit (CMU).

-Aircraft position information
-Fuel quantity
-Flight profile

DFDAU
Upon request, the DFDAU can provide aircraft condition monitoring system (ACMS) information to the CMU. This information can be downlinked to engineering for evaluation purposes.
Printer Provisions
The aircraft are wired for a printer, but this capability is not being utilized at this time.

The ACARS Communication Management Unit (CMU) and VHF VDR transceiver 3 (ACARS ONLY) is located on the E2-1 shelf. Mounted on the tray behind the CMU, is found the Aircraft Personality Module (APM)
NOTE:  The CMU on some of our 737-300’s are located on the E2-2 shelf.
737-700
The ACARS Communication Management Unit (CMU) and VHF VDR transceiver 3 (ACARS ONLY) is located on the E3-3 shelf. Mounted on the disconnect rack behind the CMU, is found the Aircraft Personality Module (APM).
