DCMS -FDCF NEW MESSAGES
General
A COMM or ATC message on the EICAS display tells the crew when there is a new message. To go to the FDCF main menu, select COMM on the display select panel (DSP). This causes the FDCF main menu to show with the oldest, highest priority new message on the selected multi-function display (MFD). To see a list of new messages, the crew selects the NEW MESSAGE menu on the FDCF main menu. The messages show by the levels of medium and low. ATC messages are medium messages and show above medium COMM messages. Within each level, the messages show in order of time. The flight crew then selects a message to see the message content.
The ATC message text also shows on the EICAS display below the primary engine data.
If there is no new message alert, the FDCF inhibits the NEW MESSAGES menu selection.
