 (6)  S 972-042Find the nose height that is necessary to get the tail clearance (Fig. 202).
 (7)  S 212-012Make sure the nose landing gear is in its neutral position.
 (8)  S 492-013Install the shock absorber around the nose gear.
NOTE:____ Install the shock absorber to prevent too much compression on the inner cylinder. This will prevent damage to the lower fuselage.
 (9)  S 492-014Install the dolly on the nose gear: (a) Remove the rear lock bar from the dolly. (b) Put the dolly in the center of the nose gear. (c) Disconnect the torque links on the nose gear. (d) Install the dolly lock bar behind the tires.

 D. Procedure
 S 212-015
 (1)
Make sure all the landing gear downlocks are installed.

 S 982-016

 (2)
Loosely put chocks on the main gear wheels.

 S 212-017

 (3)
Make sure the airplane brakes are released.

 S 582-011
WARNING:_______DO NOT STAY NEAR THE LEADING EDGE SLATS. THEY CAN MOVE AUTOMATICALLY DURING MAINTENANCE. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
CAUTION:_______DO NOT LIFT THE AIRPLANE NOSE MORE THAN 84 INCHES. THE AIRPLANE WILL NOT BE STABLE IF YOU LIFT THE NOSE MORE THAN 84 INCHES. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE.
 (4)
Lift the airplane nose to the necessary height with the dolly.

 S 982-019

 (5)
Operate the gear scoop "DOWN" to hold the dolly in the uplock position.

 S 222-021
CAUTION: DO NOT TOW THE AIRPLANE WHEN THE STRUT EXTENSION
_______ (DIMENSION "X") IS MORE THAN 23 INCHES. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CENTERING CAMS ON THE NOSE GEAR.
 (6) Make sure the Dimension "X" (Fig. 203) is not more than 23 inches.
 (a)  If Dimension "X" is more than 23 inches, release the strut pressure until Dimension "X" is 23 inches or less.

 3.  Balance Check for the Tilted Airplane (Fig. 204 to Fig. 213)____________________________________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  When you lift the airplane nose, the center of gravity of the airplane moves aft with respect to the main gear axle. This movement, plus the wind, upgrades, and fuel movement can cause the airplane to move. This can make the aft fuselage of the airplane touch the ground. Thus, you must complete a balance check form to make sure the airplane will be stable. Add the ballast, if it is necessary. You can use the dolly as a ballast. To do this, attach it to the nose gear wheels.
