____ If a DC Capacitance Fuel System Tester, and a PSDA321-1 Test Set is available, measurements can be taken before a decision is made to go into or close up a fuel tank of the dielectric sensor, and a GO/NOGO indication given of the velocimeter ultrasonic transducers, and temperature sensors. The Tester can be connected to the FQIC rack connector or the related tank wall connector. See P. Block 301 for the Tank Units DC Capacitance Values.
 4. Fault Isolation

 A. Procedure
 (1) Temporarily replace the FQIC 3QT with a serviceable item (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-34-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-34-400-001).
 NOTE : The step (1) has been included because it is important to make
____ sure that the FQIC 3QT is serviceable before you start more steps.

 (2) If the message C ULTRACOMP 50QT or C ULTRACOMP 50QT/WRG is not shown:

 - complete the installation the FQIC (3QT) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-34-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-34-400-001).

 (3) If the message C ULTRACOMP 50QT or C ULTRACOMP 50QT/WRG is shown:

 (a) Remove the temporarily installed FQIC 3QT and return it to stores (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-34-000-001).

 (b) Get access to the tank wall connectors 7509VC and 7512VC in the right MLG bay (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).

 (c) Do a visual inspection and electrical tests of the aircraft wiring between the FQIC rack connector 3QT-A and the tank wall connectors 7509VC-A (Ref. AWM 28-42-14) and 7512VC-A (Ref. AWM 28-42-16) as follows:

 

 1 Visual Inspection
_ Make sure that good lighting is available. Do a visual inspection and look for distortion (bent, pinched or stretched), damage (broken, chafed or cut), discoloration, overheating (burnt, melted or arcing), liquid contamination, loose electrical connection or incorrect assembly, of the items that follow:
 a Ultracomp, capacitive section items (Ref. AWM 28-42-16):
_
 - FQIC rack connector 3QT-A, pins 5K, 7J and 7H

 - receptacle 210VC and connector 210VC-A

 - receptacle 1970VC and connector 1970VC-A

 - terminal block 7522VT and all of its connections

 - receptacle 7570VC and connector 7570VC-A

 - pressure seal feedthrough 7510VP

 - receptacle 7512VC-A, pins E, V and F

 - adjacent and related connecting wires.

 b Ultracomp, VOS-TEMP section items (Ref. AWM 28-42-14):
_
 - FQIC rack connector 3QT-A, pins 13A and 14A

 - receptacle 212VC and connector 212VC-A

 - receptacle 1973VC and connector 1973VC-A

 - receptacle 7575VC and connector 7575VC-A

 - pressure seal feedthrough 7505VP

 - receptacle 7509VC-A, pins M and Z

 - adjacent and related connecting wires.

 2 Electrical Tests
_ Do a continuity test (Ref. ESPM 20-52-21) and a test for a short circuit (Ref. ESPM 20-52-22) of the wires that follow (Ref. AWM 28-42-14) and (Ref. AWM 28-42-16):
 - FQIC rack connector 3QT-A, pin 5K to connector 7512VC-A, pin E (ultracomp signal)

 - FQIC rack connector 3QT-A, pin 7J to connector 7512VC-A, pin V (common drive return)

 - FQIC rack connector 3QT-A, pin 7H to connector 7512VC-A, pin F (common drive)

 - FQIC rack connector 3QT-A, pin 13A to connector 7509VC-A, pin M (ultracomp, HI VOS-TEMP signal)

 - FQIC rack connector 3QT-A, pin 14A to connector 7509VC-A, pin Z (ultracomp, LO VOS-TEMP signal).

 (d) Repair all the unserviceable wiring and connectors (Ref. ESPM 20-00-00).

 (e) Connect the connectors 7509VC-A and 7512VC-A to their related tank wall receptacles.

 (f) Install the initial FQIC 3QT (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-34-400-001).

 (g) Do the test given in Para. 3.B.

 (4) If the fault continues, drain and open the tank to air (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).

 (5) Do a check of the HARNESS-CHAN A, CTR TK (17QT) (Ref. AWM 28-42-14) and replace, if necessary, (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-44-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-44-400-001).
