AC GENERATION - IDG DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION
IDG DISCONNECTION
In case of oil overheat or drop of oil pressure, the
amber IDG FAULT light comes on and the ECAM system is
triggered.
To disconnect the IDG from the accessory gearbox, the
IDG pushbutton must be pressed.
NOTE: Do not maintain the IDG pushbutton pressed for
more than 3 seconds to avoid damage of the
solenoid.
When the engine is not running, the IDG disconnection
control signal is inhibited by the engine oil low
pressure switch.
NOTE: IDG FAULT light goes off when the failure signal
is no longer present. The GEN FAULT amber light
comes on.

AC GENERATION - IDG DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION
IDG RECONNECTION
In flight, IDG disconnection is irreversible. The
system can only be reconnected on the ground with
engines shut down to avoid damage to the drive shaft
clutch device.
A mechanical reset handle (ring) fitted to the IDG
enables the drive to be reconnected while the engine
is stationary on the ground.
NOTE: Do not reconnect the IDG when the engine is in
windmilling as it will damage the IDG
disconnection mechanism.

COMPONENT DESCRIPTION
The IDG Input shaft has a shear neck to protect the
engine gearbox and also used to safeguard the IDG
against further damage.
FILTER CLOGGING INDICATOR
The sensing device for the filter clogging indicator
is automatically suppressed during cold oil running
conditions (high oil viscosity).
The Delta Pressure pop-out Indicator (DPI) can be reset
up to 3 times prior to IDG removal if these conditions
are fulfilled:
- No metal particles in the filter and no other
indications.
- Oil and filter change is required.
- Write on the IDG DPI label that DPI reset is done.
