6.2. RUNWAY REQUIREMENTS
6.2.1 Runway Physical Dimension
Runway length must meet the aircraft performance requirement. For dispatch considering CAT-IIIA/B minima or catering for an automatic landing, LDA should meet the auto land LDR given in Aircraft FCOM page, when it exceeds manual LDR.  Width of Runway should not be less than 45 m (150 ft). ICAO recommends that Runway Slope should not exceed 0.8 % in the first and the last quarter of runway length.
Terrain before runway
For aeroplanes making auto-coupled approaches and automatic landings, the radio-altimeter begins to provide information to the autopilot for auto-flare. Hence, it is desirable that on an area 30 m on either side of extended centre line and 300 m before the threshold,    Slope changes are avoided and when they cannot be avoided rate of change between two consecutive slopes do not exceed 2 % per 30 m. At certain Airports where the terrain before runway has irregularities precluding use of Radio Altimeter for DH, the state authority may specify use of barometric altimeter in which case provision of an Inner Marker may be mandatory.
6.2.2. Taxi Holding Positions
A taxi-holding position or positions shall be established at an intersection of taxiway with a precision approach  runway such that a holding aircraft will not interfere with the operation of radio aids. Minimum distance from the runway centerline to a taxi-holding position for precision approach category II and III runway shall be 90 m (upto an elevation of 2300 ft and plus 3 m for every 1000 ft above)

6.2.3 Obstacles on runway strip
No fixed object, other than frangible visual aids, shall be permitted on a runway strip within 60 m of runway centerline of a precision approach runway CAT II or III. No mobile objects shall be permitted on this part of runway strip during the use of runway for landing or take-off.
6.2.4. Obstacle free Zone (OFZ)
Obstacle Free Zone is the airspace above the
-
Inner approach surface,

-
Inner transitional surface and

-Balked landing surface. and that portion of the strip bounded by these surfaces, which is not penetrated by any fixed obstacle other than a low mass and frangible mounted one required for air navigation purposes.

6.3. VISUAL AIDS – MARKING REQUIRMENTS
6.3.1 Runway and Taxiway Markings
The markings necessary for CAT-II/III Ops are:
-Runway centerline markings
-Threshold markings
-Touchdown zone markings
-Taxi-holding position markings Runway markings are WHITE in colour. Taxiway markings are YELLOW in colour.
