Physical Description

The turbine exhaust sleeve and turbine exhaust plug make the collector/nozzle. The turbine exhaust plug makes the inner contour for the turbine exhaust. The turbine exhaust sleeve makes the outer contour for the turbine exhaust.
A load share ring is mounted between the engine turbine case and the turbine exhaust sleeve. The load share ring has the cross-tie assemby for the load share straps. A total of 19 rubstrips are mounted circumferentially on the load share ring. These rubstrips come in contact with the aft cowl frame. When the thrust reverser is closed, the hoop-tie and load share latches and straps clamp the aft cowl so that aft cowl acts as a load share structure for the engine. This limits the axial deflection of the engine during operation.

TURBINE EXHAUST SYSTEM -TURBINE EXHAUST SLEEVE

General

The turbine exhaust sleeve makes the outer contour of the collector/nozzle.
The turbine exhaust sleeve is aft of the thrust reverser.
Physical Description

The turbine exhaust sleeve is made of an inner and outer sleeve held together with rivets. The turbine exhaust sleeve is made of titanium alloy. Seventy two bolts attach the turbine exhaust sleeve and the load share ring to the turbine exhaust case (T flange on the engine).
The load share ring with the cross tie assembly are installed between the turbine exhaust sleeve and the turbine exhaust case. The load share tension strap from the aft cowl structure connects to the cross tie assembly at the top of the load share ring.
There are nineteen rubstrips mounted around the circumference of the load share ring. The rubstrips are a titanium alloy base metal with a repairable coating of plasma flame sprayed tungsten carbide powder on the rubstrip contact area. When the thrust reverser is closed and latched, the aft cowl structure is clamped around the load share ring.
There are fifteen metal fireseal segments attached to the top of the turbine exhaust sleeve with screws and washers. These fireseals close the gap between the turbine exhaust sleeve and the strut aft cowl fairing. The fireseals are a nickel alloy base metal with a plasma flame spray coating of tungsten carbide powder on the curved fireseal contact area. Each fireseal segment is an assembly made of two seals with finger segments that overlap. The edges of the installed fireseals overlap and interlock together.
