ARINC -Interfaces
The CTCs receive and send information on the left and right systems 629 ARINC buses (not shown). These are the systems from which the CTCs receive information:
*
AIMS: ground test, altitude, cabin pressure, TAT, air speed

*
APUC: APU on/off, ECS pneumatic mode

*
ASCPCs: left and right pack flow schedules (L ASCPC usual source), pack discharge temperature, compressor out temperature, manifold air temperature, duct pressure, left and right pack calculated mass air flow, left and right pack inlet differential pressure

*
CSS: request for bias of cabin zone target temperature (|10F, 5.5C), number of passenger seats

*
CTC: mix manifold temperature, intergraded mix manifold temperature error (IMMTE) reference (R CTC usual source), pack flow mass air flow, CTC status, pack on/off

*
ECSMC: upper or lower recirculation fan overheat, lavatory/ galley ventilation fans on/off

*
ELMS: status for the upper and lower recirculation fans and the economy cooling valve (ECV) circuits

*
OPAS: switch/control position for: L PACK and R PACK, UPPER RECIRC FANS and LOWER RECIRC FANS, AIR COND RESET, FLT DECK TEMP and CABIN TEMP, FWD CARGO FIRE and AFT CARGO FIRE

*
WES: stall warning

*
WOW: air/ground.


These are the systems that get information from the CTCs:

AIMS: indications, ground test

*
APUC: APU demand control (air flow request)


EFFECTIVITY

ASCPCs: CTC status, pack inlet pressure, low bleed air temperature request (250F, 121C), increase bleed air pressure (6 psi bias)

CSS: actual zone temperature, cabin target temperature
(master plus CSS bias)

CTC: mix manifold temperature, mix manifold temperature reference (R CTC usual source), pack flow mass air flow, CTC status, pack on/off

*
ELMS: ECV open/close request, upper and lower recirculation fans on/off requests

*
OPAS: OFF lights for the left and right packs and FAULT lights for left and right trim air.


Control -Interfaces
The CTCs directly control these related valves and actuators:
*
Upper and lower flow control valves (FCV)

*
Trim air pressure regulating and shutoff valve (TRIM PRSOV)

*
Ram air inlet door actuator

*
Turbine bypass valve (TBV)

*
Low limit valve (LLV)

*
Zone trim air modulating valves (L CTC: F/D, zones A, C, E) (R CTC: zones B, D, F).


The CTCs usually use position loop control to set the valves and actuators that directly connect to them. It is necessary to use RVDTs for this type of control.

The CTCs can use a type of control that does not require RVDTs, open loop control. The CTCs look at temperature or pressure change downstream of a valve to monitor valve movement. The CTCs use open loop control for valves that do not have RVDTs or for valve and actuators that have failed RVDTs.
The CTCs indirectly control the related economy cooling valve (ECV) and the upper and lower recirculation (RECIRC) fans.
See the pack cooling and mix manifold temperature control section for more information about the control and operation of the ECV (SECTION 21-52). See the recirculation section for more information about the control and operation of the recirculation fans (SECTION 21-25).
Training Information Point
The ASCPCs work with the CTCs to give backup shutoff control for the FCVs and trim PRSOV if the related CTCs fail or lose control of the valves. The ASCPCs also use the FCVs to give backup control of pack flow if the related CTC fails. See the pack flow control section for more information about the control and operation of the pack flow (SECTION 21-51).

General
The left and right cabin temperature controllers (CTCs) monitor these types of sensors:
*
Pressure

*
Temperature

*
RVDT.


Pressure and Temperature Sensors -Analog Interfaces
Each CTC monitors its own set of sensors to get pressure and temperature information for control, BIT, and indication. All sensors supply indication data. The CTC sensor interface table shows the primary functions and the effect on the CTCs if there is a loss of sensor input or total loss of data.
