EFFECTIVITY BEJ ALL
Switches in the fans supply an overheat indication to the applicable ECSMCs. The left fan overheat switches connect to the left card and the right fan overheat switches connect to the right card. The ECSMCs contain fault logic for the fan.
Inhibits
These conditions inhibit fan operation:

Ground test (FAN OFF test condition)
*
Aft cargo fire switch armed
*
Fan failed on and relay is energized
*
Fan overheat
*
Fan failed off
*
Electrical load shed (ELMS).
Training Information Point
You can test the operation of the fan with a ground test from the MAT.
If both of the lavatory galley ventilation fans are off, no air flows around the zone temperature sensors. This causes these conditions to occur:

The cabin temperature controllers (CTCs) go to an alternate mode which can not control zone temperatures as accurately as the usual mode.
*
The environmental control system miscellaneous cards turn off the aft and bulk cargo heat.

Purpose
The equipment cooling system keeps the electronic and electrical equipment cool. Equipment in the forward part of the airplane and equipment in the aft part of the airplane have separate cooling systems.

A/C -EQUIPMENT COOLING -AFT SYSTEM -GENERAL DESCRIPTION -MECHANICAL
Purpose
The aft part of the equipment cooling system gives pull-through cooling for equipment in the aft part of the airplane that needs active cooling. The system also gives backup cooling for SATCOM equipment.
