Do a check to make sure the coupling ring masks the colored band of the receptacle. 1) If the coupling ring does not mask the colored band of the
receptacle, proceed as follows:
a) Manual Connector Tightening: Vigorously tighten the mechanic stop three times (loosen by a 1/4 turn between each tightening) to be sure that the colored band on the receptacle is masked.
b) Connector tightening with a tool: Use gripping pliers with protected jaws to tighten the connector so that the colored band on the receptacle is masked.

(2) If this procedure was done as a troubleshooting step, continue with the troubleshooting procedure.
