A test part having a known ú defect can be used to evaluate effectiveness of white light ú shielding. ú ú (2) Compressed Air Supply for drying parts. CAUTION:_______THE USE OF HIGH INTENSITY (125 WATT) ULTRAVIOLET BULBS WHICH ú EMIT AN EXCESS AMOUNT OF WHITE LIGHT WILL AFFECT THE ú SENSITIVITY OF THE FLUORESCENT PENETRANT PROCESS. USE ONLY ú BULBS CERTIFIED BY THE NDT ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER AS ú HAVING PASSED THEIR IN-HOUSE INSPECTION. IN ADDITION, THESE ú HIGH INTENSITY BULBS SHOULD BE PERIODICALLY TESTED FOR WHITE ú LIGHT EMISSION. ú ú (3) Ultraviolet Lamp to detect fluorescent indications. ú (a) The ultraviolet (black) light source used for the detection of ú indications shall have an intensity no less than 800 microwatts ú per square cm measured at a distance of 15 inches (380 mm). In ú addition, high intensity self filtered 125 watt bulbs shall be ú tested for white light emission to make sure that white light ú emission is in the permitted limits. ú (4) White Light Lamp for visual inspection of parts ú (5) Time piece for timing operations ú (6) 3-power and 10-power magnifying lenses ú (7) Assortment of adjustable mirrors ú (8) Gages to measure size of fluorescent indications ú (9) Cotton swabs or small fine hair art brush to apply solvent for ú evaluating questionable indications
