THRUST BRACE LINKS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. There are two tasks in this procedure. There is one task for the removal and one task for the installation of the thrust brace links.
B. The thrust brace links are located at the rear spar of the horizontal stabilizer center section.
C. There are four thrust brace links, two on each side.

2. Thrust Brace Links Removal__________________________
A. Standard Tools and Equipment
(1) Use suitable wood beams (approximately a 4-inch by 4-inch cross-section) to support the center section of the thrust brace link assembly at any approximately horizontal position (Fig. 402).

D. Prepare for the Removal
S 494-009-B00
(1) Install suitable wood beams to support the center section at any approximately horizontal position (Fig. 402).
E. Remove the thrust brace links
S 024-002-B00
(1) Disconnect the upper inboard end.
(a)
Remove the cotter pin (2) and nut (3).
(b)
Remove washer (4), bolt (7) and bushing (6).
(c)
Disconnect the thrust brace link (1) from the center section fitting.
S 024-003-B00
(2) Disconnect the lower inboard end.
(a)
Remove the cotter pin (14) and nut (15).
(b)
Remove washer (16), bolt (22) and bushing (21).
(c)
Disconnect the thrust brace link (27) from the center section fitting.
