F. Prepare to Install the Vertical Fin

(1) Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a) P6 Load Control Center - Right
1) VHF NAV-2 VOR/ILS

Do this task to make sure the pressure is removed from the rudder hydraulic system: "Remove the Pressure From Rudder Hydraulic Systems A and B" (AMM 27-21-00/201).

Open the vertical fin access doors.
(a)
Open the Stab Trim Access Door 3701.
(b)
Open the Front Spar Access Doors 9503 and 9504.
(c)
Open the Rear Spar Access Doors 9505 and 9506.

Use the solvent to clean the bolts that attach the fin.

Use the solvent to clean the bolt holes.

(6)
Make sure that the rudder gust lock with the warning streamer is installed.
G. Install the Vertical Fin

(1) When you use the F80035-18 sling assembly, do these steps:
NOTE: You can install the vertical fin with or without the rudder
____ installed. Refer to Fig. 401 to use the sling.
(a) Install the sling attachment fittings on the sides of the vertical fin. 1) Install the two sling attachment fittings, F80035-9, on the
left side of the vertical fin.

2) Install the two sling attachment fittings, F80035-10, on the right side of the vertical fin. 3) Keep the sling positioning screws.
(b)
Attach the sling assembly to the crane.
(c)
Attach the sling to the attachment fittings.

(2) If you use the C55004-1 sling assembly, do these steps:
NOTE: Refer to Fig. 401 to use the sling.

(a) When you put the vertical fin on its right side, do these steps: 1) Connect the bridle hook G to the strongback (10) on the
left side at location G. 2) Connect the bridle hook H to the strongback (5) on the left side at location H. 3) Connect the bridle hook C to the strongback (2) on the left side at location C. 4) Connect the bridle hook A to the strongback (2) on the right side at location A. 5) Connect the fixed link to the cable from the crane
structure. 6) Connect the crane link to the crane hook. 7) Install the strongback (5) on the left side to the
applicable adapter (3) at the rear spar at location H. 8) Install the strongback (5) on the left side to the applicable adapter (6) at the rear spar at location F. 9) Install the strongback (10) on the left side to the applicable adapter (6) at the rear spar at location F. 10) Install the strongback (10) on the left side to the applicable adapter (8) at the front spar at location E.
11) Install each of the strongback (2) to the applicable adapter (1) on the left and right side at the front spar at locations A, B, C and D.
