(b)
Loosen nuts (3, figure 501) enough to allow flanges on eccentric bushings (4) to clear stop pins.

(c)
Rotate eccentric bushings (4) as necessary to shift fairing to required position.

(d)
Engage flanges of eccentric bushings (4) with stop pins.

(e)
Tighten nuts (3).

(f)
Adjust seal assembly so that seal contacts fixed structure. Contact should be firm. Tighten retaining screws.

(6)
Install fairing and check that gaps and mismatch are within limits.

(7)
Adjust inboard midflap seal plate. Refer to 27-51-341, Inboard Midflap Seal Plate -Removal/Installation.

OUTBOARD FLAP TRACKS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A.  The flap track installation requires use of solid tapered aluminum shim and aluminum rub strip at point where track attaches to wing rear spar aft track support fitting. Maximum design thickness of shim is determined at jig assembly of wing and flap track during installation. Some airplanes were delivered with phenolic rub strip, laminated shims, and aluminum fillers and other airplanes were delivered with aluminum rub strip and solid tapered aluminum shim. If shim replacement is necessary, the solid tapered shim with aluminum rub strip is the preferred replacement.
B.  During track replacement, it is extremely important to maintain thickness of shim as originally manufactured. Instructions are provided for replacing damaged or lost tapered shim and rub strip. Failure to follow instructions will result in incorrect track alignment after installation. If a tapered aluminum shim and aluminum rub strip are being fabricated to replace a tapered aluminum shim and phenolic rub strip, the thickness of the new shim and rub strip should be equal to the thickness of the original shim and rub strip.
2.  Equipment and Materials
A.  Primer - BMS 10-11, type I (Ref 20-30-41)
B.  Corrosion Preventive Compound - MIL-C-11796, class 3 (Ref 20-30-21)
C.  Sealant - BMS 5-95 (Ref 20-30-11)
D.  Outboard Flap Rigging Tools:
(1)
Outboard Flap Rigging Beam - F80209-2 (Preferred) (Ref 27-09-700)

NOTE: Rigging Beam is a part of F80209-1.

(2)
Outboard Flap Rigging Tool - TE65-73720-1 and -2 (Optional)

3.  Prepare Flap Track for Removal
A.  Remove trailing edge flaps (Ref 27-51-72, R/I).
B.  Remove Flap Transmission (Ref 27-51-281, R/I).
C.  Disassembly foreflap sequencing carriage and remove from track (Ref 27-51-111, R/I).

4.  Remove Flap Track
A.  Remove track aft attach bolts (Fig. 40l).
NOTE:  Be careful not to damage rub strip or tapered shim when flap track is removed to simplify reinstallation.
Rub strip is bonded to wing lower surface. Tapered shim is bonded to the flap track upper surface.
B.  Measure and record exact shim and rub strip thickness for track installation.
C.  Remove bolt attaching track to forward support fitting and remove track from airplane.
NOTE:  Flap tracks weigh approximately 110 pounds.
5.  Install Flap Track
A.  If rub strip has been damaged, install new rub strip as follows:
(ON AIRPLANES NOT INCORPORATING SB 57-1203)

(1)
Remove damaged rub strip and sealant from lower surface of wing.

(2)
Apply primer to damaged area and allow to cure.

(3)
Bond rub strip to wing lower surface with sealant.

NOTE:  Install track before expiration of sealant work life.

(4)
Apply fillet of sealant around periphery of rub strip.

(5)
Remove all sealant from lower surface of rub strip.

B.  If tapered shim has been damaged, install new tapered shim as follows:
NOTE:  Shim thickness must be same as shims that were removed. On airplanes with bonded decal on wing rear spar, adjacent to flap tracks, these decals show the necessary shim thickness exclusive of rub strip thickness.
