(3)  Slowly move reverse thrust lever No. 1 in reverse thrust direction until switch actuation occurs (continuity through switch). Hold lever in this position and check that switch actuation occurred within the required range in section A-A.
CAUTION:  MAINTAIN REVERSE THRUST LEVER POSITION SECURELY, SINCE FURTHER MOVEMENT COULD CAUSE ERRONEOUS MEASUREMENTS, RESULTING IN INADEQUATE CLEARANCE.
NOTE:  It may be necessary to disconnect the thrust reverser feedback cable at the thrust reverser and rotate the thrust reverser follow-up cam to obtain the dimension in section view A-A.
(4)  
Return reverse thrust lever No. 1 to idle position.

(5)  
Repeat steps (3) and (4) using reverse thrust lever No. 2.

(6)  
If either reverse thrust lever did not cause switch actuation to occur within the required range (section A-A), adjust switch as follows:

(a)  
Loosen switch adjustment locking screw (detail B).

(b)  
Turn switch adjustment screw into or out of switch plate as required to cause switch to actuate within the required range when both reverse thrust levers (No. 1 and 2) are operated (separately).

(c)  
Tighten switch adjustment locking screw.

(d)  
If switch actuation is still not within required range. Adjust cam follower adjustment screw to attain .005 to .02 inch clearance between thrust drum and thrust drum cam follower with reverse thrust levers No. 1 and 2 in idle position and speed brake lever in DN and locked position.

 


C.  Connect electrical leads to switch.
D.  Check switch operation as follows:
(1)  
Close the following circuit breakers on P6 panel:

(a)  
AUTO SPEED BRAKE

(b)  
INDICATOR LIGHTS

 

(2)  
Provide electrical power.

(3)  
Place reverse thrust levers No. 1 and 2 in idle position.

(4)  
Place speed brake lever in DN and locked detent.

(5)  
Slowly move reverse thrust lever No. 1 in reverse thrust direction. Check that lifting tab on speed brake lever is lifted clear of indicator plate detent before speed brake ARMED light comes on.

(6)  
Continue moving reverse thrust lever No. 1 another 1 to 2 inches, then slowly move lever back toward idle. Check that speed brake ARMED light goes out before idle position is reached.

(7)  
Repeat steps (5) and (6) using reverse thrust lever No. 2.

(8)  
Place speed brake lever in DN and locked position.

(9)  
Remove electrical power if no longer required.

GROUND SPOILER CONTROL VALVE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1.  Equipment and Materials
A.  Speed Brake Rigging Tool - MIT65-45116
B.  Rigging Pins Kit - F70207-3, -52, 61, or -84:
REF NO.  F70207-( )  DIAMETER (INCHES)  LENGTH (INCHES)  FUNCTION 
S/B-1  -11  0.309-0.311  6.7 +0.25  Speed Brake Forward Drum 

C.  Grease - MIL-G-23827 (Ref 20-30-21)
D.  Skydrol Assembly Lube - MCS352 or Fire Resistant Hydraulic Fluid - BMS 3-11 (Ref 20-30-21)
2.  Remove Ground Spoiler Control Valve
A.  Depressurize hydraulic system A (Ref 27-62-0 MP).
B.  Remove bolt attaching control rod to valve lever (Fig. 401).
C.  Remove five hydraulic tubing connections from valve.
NOTE: Provide means to catch any hydraulic fluid leaking from the connections.
D.  Remove four valve mounting bolts attaching valve to mounting bracket and remove valve from airplane.
E.  Install protective caps on all hydraulic lines.
F.  Remove reducers and O-rings from the five valve ports.
G.  Install protective caps in open ports.
