E. Install downstop on end of each main slat track.
(1)
Install a 69-40677-1 downstops on slats 1 and 6 or a 69-40677-2 if the 0.25 inch (65 mm) maximum asymmetry dimension or minimum clearance (Fig. 506) can not be achieved.
(2)
Install a 69-54952-2 downstops on slats 2 and 5 or a 69-54942-1 or 69-40677-1 if the 0.25 inch (65 mm) maximum asymmetry dimension or minimum clearance (Fig. 506) can not be achieved.
(3)
Position slat to align downstop bolt hole with hole in support rib and install downstops. Tighten nut finger-tight. Repeat at all main slat tracks (Section A-A, Fig. 401).
(4)
Manually extend slat to drive all downstops as far aft as possible. Apply locking compound to bolt threads. Position slat to align access holes and tighten downstop nuts to 50-70 pound-inches.
F. Loosen and back off center upstop in wing leading edge and loosen two auxiliary slat track adjustment bolts at each auxiliary track (Section B-B, Fig. 401).
G. Loosen two main slat track adjustment bolts on each main track (Section A-A, Fig. 401).
H. If installing slat 1 or 6, set main slat track adjustment bolts at nominal position in holes, align serrated washers on plates, and tighten nuts.
I. Remove detent arm torque adjustment bolts from both detent arms (Fig. 402).
J. Manually retract slats to contact upstops in wing leading edge.
K. Position slat lower skin to contact leading edge and check upper and lower trailing edge gaps (Section A-A, Fig. 401). If gaps are not within limits, reposition end upstops on serrated plates as required and tighten nuts (Section E-E, Fig. 401).
NOTE: Slat upper trailing edge may be trimmed to obtain required gaps.
L. Hold slat against upstops and check lower trailing edge mismatch (Section A-A, Fig. 401). If mismatch is not within limits, adjust by loosening main track adjustment bolts and repositioning serrated washers. Ensure that serrations align and tighten nuts to 60-85 pound-inches. Install cotter pins.
M. Recheck upper trailing edge gap (Section A-A, Fig. 401). Adjust upstops if required.
N. Adjust center stop near actuator by moving stop forward to contact slat. Back stop off one serration and tighten nuts.

O. Check upper trailing edge mismatch (Section A-A). If mismatch is not within limits, adjust aft end of auxiliary tracks vertically by loosening aft adjustment bolt. Ensure that serrations align, then tighten bolt 45 to 65 pound-inches and install cotter pin.
P. Bend tabs at main tracks (if required) to fair tabs with wing structure.
Q. Deleted.
R. Provide system A hydraulic power (Ref 27-81-0 MP).
S. Place flap control lever to 1-unit detent to extend slat to intermediate position.
T. Remove system A hydraulic power (Ref 27-81-0 MP).
WARNING: DEPRESSURIZE THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS WHEN PERFORMING ADJUSTMENTS TO PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
INSTALL LEADING EDGE SLAT ACTUATOR LOCKS AS REQUIRED WHEN ADJUSTING SLATS WITH ACTUATOR CONNECTED.
U. Connect actuator to slat with bolt and washer on each side of actuator. Install nut and tighten 220 to 360 pound-inches.
V. Install clamps securing actuator switch leads to slat and anti-icing duct and reconnect leads at electrical connector (Fig. 405). Two to four wraps of tape may be applied under clamp to prevent clamp from shifting.
CAUTION: TO PREVENT CHAFING, THE SLAT ACTUATOR DOWNLOCK HARNESS AND CLAMPS MUST BE POSITIONED AND INSTALLED TO AVOID INTERFERENCE WITH TELESCOPING DUCT.
W. Extend slat to intermediate position.
X. Check slat trailing edge gap for full slat span while maintaining correct follower bearing to detent arm gap at both auxiliary tracks (Section B-B). If gap is not within limits, adjust by loosening auxiliary track adjustment bolts and repositioning track. Ensure that serrations align and tighten adjustment nuts 45 to 65 pound-inches. Install cotter pins. Recheck gaps.
NOTE: Loosen forward adjustment bolt and move forward end of track vertically to adjust slat trailing edge gap. Loosen both adjustment bolts and move track fore and aft to adjust detent arm gap.
