NOTE: Before installing, check that all switches on tester are off.
(5)
Set up tester as follows:
(a)
Place master switch to ON position.
(b)
Place WHEEL SPEED LO, LI, RO and RI switches in OFF position.
(c)
Set rotary VELOCITY potentiometer to a position greater than 62 knots.
(d)
Place WHEEL SPEED velocity switch in VEL position.
NOTE: Throughout the test, LO, LI, RO and RI switches referred to are located in tester WHEEL SPEED section. Disregard all lamps on tester during test.
(6)
Place speed brake lever in ARMED position. Check that ARMED light illuminates.
(7)
Place LO switch in ON position. Check that DO NOT ARM light illuminates and spoilers do not actuate.
(8)
Place LO switch in OFF position. Check that ARMED light illuminates.
(9)
With speed brake in ARMED position, place switches RO and RI in ON position. Check that speed brake lever automatically moves to UP position and all spoilers extend in less than 1 second.
(10)
Place RO and RI switch in OFF position.
(11)
Move speed brake lever to DOWN and locked position. Check that all spoilers retract.
(12)
Press speed brake indicator test switch 3 to reset speed brake lever actuator.
(13)
Move speed brake lever to ARMED position, and check that SPEED BRAKE ARMED light comes ON.
NOTE: DO NOT ARM light may momentarily come on if switches are not operated simultaneously.
(14)
Place both antiskid switches in ON position.

SPEED BRAKE REFUSED TAKEOFF (RTO) SWITCH - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (AIRPLANES WITH AUTOMATIC SPEED BRAKES)
1. General
A. The refused takeoff (RTO) switch S650 is installed in the upper right forward part of the control stand and is actuated by movement of reverse thrust levers No. 1 or 2 in a reverse thrust direction. It operates in conjunction with an arm which lifts the speed brake lever out of the down and locked detent to permit automatic deployment of the speed brakes when the switch is actuated.
2. Equipment and Materials
A. Ohmmeter
3. Remove RTO Switch (Fig. 401)
A. Open AUTO SPEED BRAKE circuit breaker on P6 panel.
B. Remove access plate from switch cover on control stand (detail B).
C. Disconnect electrical leads from switch.
D. Remove switch mounting screws and remove switch and actuator from switch mount.
4. Install RTO Switch (Fig. 401)
A. Install switch actuator on switch and secure assembly to switch mount with screws (detail B).
B. Adjust switch as follows:
(1)
Connect ohmmeter across NO and C terminals on switch.
(2)
Place reverse thrust levers No. 1 and 2 in idle position and speed brake lever in DN and locked position.
(3)
Put and hold the forward thrust lever in the idle position during switch adjustment.
