Lower spoilers, if applicable.

Check that spoiler to flap clearance is within limits.
(k)
Provide access to actuator.
(l)
Tighten checknut within 290 to 410 pound-inches torque range.
(m)
Lockwire checknut and locking key.
(n)
Apply a bead of sealant to the rod end checknut.
(3)
Test ground spoiler actuator.

2. Ground Spoiler Actuator Test
A. Equipment and Materials
(1)
Control Column Protractor Assembly-4MIT65B80307-1 (Preferred) or F52485-500 (Optional) which is used with the following adapters:
(a)
Aileron Control Wheel Protractor Mount-F72790
(b)
Forward Thrust Lever Protractor Adapter-F72952-2
(2)
Control Surface Protractor Stand Assembly - F71292-17, or equivalent
B. Test Ground Spoiler
(1)
Provide system A hydraulic power (Ref 27-62-0).
(2)
Place speed brake control lever in UP position to raise spoilers.
(3)
Using control surface protractor, check that ground spoilers No. 1 and 8 are 40 (+ 2) degrees up from full down position.
(4)
Check that ground spoiler No. 1 is within 2 degrees of ground spoiler No. 8.
(5)
Place speed brake control lever in DOWN position to lower spoilers.
(6)
Check that spoilers are full down.
Return Airplane to Normal Configuration
(1)
Remove system A hydraulic power (Ref 27-62-0, Maintenance Practices).
(2)
Position spoiler switches to ON.
(3)
Remove electrical power if no longer required.

SPEED BRAKE ARMING AND AUTOBRAKE OFF RAMP SWITCHES - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. The speed brake arming switch (S276) and autobrake off ramp switch (S585) are mounted on a common bracket with common attachment screws. The speed brake arming switch is actuated by a cam on the speed brake quadrant in the lower nose compartment. The autobrake off ramp switch is actuated by a separate cam on the same speed brake quadrant. The autobrake off ramp switch functions in the automatic braking system (Ref 32-43-00). The speed brake arming and autobrake off ramp switches cannot be replaced or adjusted separately.
2. Equipment and Materials
A. Ohmmeter
3. Remove Speed Brake Arming or Autobrake Off Ramp Switch (Fig. 401)
A. Set speed brake lever on control stand at about mid travel.
B. Open LANDING GEAR LIGHTS circuit breaker on P6 panel.
C. Open lower forward fuselage nose access door.
D. Disconnect electrical leads from switch to be replaced.
E. Remove attachment screws and remove switches and actuator.
4. Install Speed Brake Arming or Autobrake Off Ramp Switch (Fig. 401)
A. Hold switches and actuators in position and install attachment screws.
B. Connect electrical leads to replaced switch.
C. Adjust speed brake arming and autobrake off ramp switches as follows:
NOTE: Both switches require adjustment if the common attachment screws were loosened.
(1) Adjust speed brake arming switch as follows:
(a)
Place speed brake control lever in ARMED position so that lever arm roller is centered in ARMED detent on cam.
(b)
Place 0.18-inch thick feeler gage between switch actuator roller and cam on speed brake quadrant. Check that continuity does not exist between common and normally closed contacts.
(c)
Place 0.08-inch thick feeler gage between switch actuator roller and cam. Check that continuity exists between common and normally closed contacts.
(d)
Adjust switch as necessary to meet actuation requirements. Bend switch tab, if necessary. Ensure that switch attachment screws are tightened.
(e)
Close LANDING GEAR LIGHTS circuit breaker on P6 panel.
(f)
Return speed brake lever to down position.
