L2 If it detects a stall or a potential EGT overheat, the FADEC will reduce the fuel schedule
in stages, if necessary, to achieve a normal condition. The following message will be
displayed on the ECAM:
L1NEW START IN PROGRESS
L2 If a normal condition cannot be achieved, the fuel valve is closed and the following ECAM
message is displayed:
L1 ENG MASTER (AFFECTED)........................................................................................... OFF
L2‐ The fuel metering valve and starter air valve are automatically closed. Both igniters are
turned off
‐ Setting ENG MASTER sw to OFF confirms automatic start abort
‐ In case of ENG STALL, consider making a XBLEED start, if pressure is low.
L1 On the ground (manual start):
MAN START (AFFECTED).............................................................................................. OFF
ENG MASTER (AFFECTED)........................................................................................... OFF
MODE SEL..................................................................................................................CRANK
MAN START (AFFECTED)................................................................................................ON
L2Note: The last two lines are not displayed on the ECAM.
Dry crank the engine for 30 s. The start valve automatically reopens when N2 is
below 20 %.
The pilot must decide whether to attempt a new start, or to report the no start
condition for appropriate maintenance action.
L1 STARTER TIME EXCEEDED:
MAN START (IF MANUAL START IS PERFORMED)...........................................................OFF
ENG MASTER (AFFECTED)..................................................................................................OFF
 LO START AIR PRESS:
BLEED AIR SUPPLY........................................................................................................ CHECK

Applicable to:
 ENG 1(2) IGNITION FAULT:
L2No light up within 20 s (30 s in flight) or
L1 NO N1 ROTATION:
or
STALL
or
EGT OVERLIMIT
or
HUNG START:
 In flight:
ENG MASTER (AFFECTED)........................................................................................... OFF
L2Wait 30 s before attempting a new start (to drain the engine).
L1 On ground (auto start):
L2 In case of no light up, detected stall, potential EGT overheat or hung start, the FADEC
will immediately shut off fuel and turn off ignition. Then a dry crank phase is automatically
performed. At the end of the dry crank sequence, the start valve is closed. Following
message is displayed on ECAM during crank phase:
L1 AUTO CRANK IN PROGRESS.
 When dry cranking process is finished:
ENG MASTER (AFFECTED).....................................................................................OFF
L2 Setting ENG MASTER sw to OFF confirms automatic start abort.
Following starter cooldown, the pilot must decide whether to attempt auto or manual
start, or to report the no start condition for appropriate maintenance action.
Note: With engine above idle, if EGT limit is exceeded ECAM requires to set engine
master lever at OFF.
L1 On the ground (manual start):
