C. Installation of cables
CAUTION : AFTER A CORRECTIVE ACTION OR INSTALLATION OF CABLES, DO NOT FORGET TO REMOVE BLOCKING DEVICE (2) FOR CABLES.
1) Keep cable assemblies clean. Do not allow shavings, dirt or grease to get on the cables and keep the cables off the floor.
2) Keep cables straight or properly coiled, and as initially protected, during installation. Do not allow the cables to kink or twist, force sharp bends in the cables, or use pliers to pull cables.
3. CHECK OF PULLEYS (Figure 203)
A. Sight check
1) Examine pulleys for roughness, sharp edges and foreign materials in grooves.
2) Examine bearings for free rotation, flats and foreign materials.
3) Periodically turn pulleys with limited angles of rotation to seat the cable on a new bearing surface.
4) Check pulleys alignment. Check alignment, attachment and any deterioration of supports and guard systems.
