• Yaw damper is on.
STALL CHARACTERISTICS
There is no natural stall warning or aerodynamic buffet prior to the stall, in the altitude range
of between 13,000 feet and 15,000 feet. As a high angle of attack approaches, continuous
ignition is activated. Stall warning is provided by a stick shaker, which is set to operate at
varying percentages of indicated airspeed above the stalling speed. Stick shaker speeds are
presented in tabular form in Figures 06–20–1 to 06–20–4.
The stall is defined by the operation of the stick pusher, and the associated nose down
attitude change. Alternate stall identification is provided by the STALL switch/lights on the
glareshield panel flashing red, and the warbler coming on. Stick pusher speeds are presented
in tabular form in Figures 06–20–5 to 06–20–8.
ENTRY AND RECOVERY PROCEDURES
Start the maneuver by establishing the appropriate configuration, with the thrust levers set to
IDLE. Trim the airplane at an airspeed of approximately 1.4 VS in that configuration, after
setting the required power. Reduce the airspeed by pitching the nose up (with the wings kept
level) at a deceleration rate of not more than one knot per second. Rapid or violent
movements of any flight controls during the approach to the stall should be avoided,
particularly at airspeeds below the operation of the stick shaker. Any tendency to yaw during
the approach to the stall should be corrected by normal use of the rudder.
Immediately after the stall is recognized, prompt and positive recovery action should be
taken, by forward movement of the control column and simultaneous addition of power. This
nose down attitude should be maintained, and power added, until airspeed is increased
sufficiently to accomplish a smooth pull out. At no time should speed be allowed to reduce to
more than 2 knots below the stick pusher speed.
STICK SHAKER AND STICK PUSHER SPEEDS
The indicated stick shaker and stick pusher speeds, for varying airplane weights and pressure
altitudes, are presented in the following tables:
Figure 06−20A−1 provides the stick shaker speeds for flaps 0° and gear up;
Figure 06−20A−2 provides the stick shaker speeds for flaps 20° and gear up;
Figure 06−20A−3 provides the stick shaker speeds for flaps 30° and gear up;
Figure 06−20A−4 provides the stick shaker speeds for flaps 45° and gear down;
Figure 06−20A−5 provides the stick pusher speeds for flaps 0° and gear up;
Figure 06−20A−6 provides the stick pusher speeds for flaps 20° and gear up;

Figure 06−20A−7 provides the stick pusher speeds for flaps 30° and gear up; and
Figure 06−20A−8 provides the stick pusher speeds for flaps 45° and gear down.
The stick shaker and stick pusher speeds were calculated based on a reference centre of
gravity (CG) position of 20% MAC. To estimate stick shaker and stick pusher speeds at a
different CG position, reduce the speeds derived from the following tables by 0.1% for every
1.0% MAC aft of the reference CG position.
Example:
Airplane weight = 38,000 lb
Altitude = 14,000 feet
Flaps = 20°
Landing gear = Up
CG = 21% MAC
Using Figure 06−20A−2, the estimated stick shaker speed for the above conditions is
calculated as follows:
134.5 – (134.5 × .001) = 134.4 KIAS
Using Figure 06−20A−6, the estimated stick pusher speed for the above conditions is
calculated as follows:
126.0 – (126.0 × .001) = 125.9 KIAS
