VNAV descent, as displayed by the FMS. The required visual reference
must be obtained prior to commencing descent below published MDAs,
DAs, or DHs.
On airplanes 5301 to 5499 NOT incorporating Service Bulletin 604–34–031:
Capture and tracking of DME arcs outside of the published end points of an approved IFR
procedure is prohibited.
Use of VNAV raw data without a flight director is prohibited.
Use of VNAV data with a non FMS mode is prohibited.
Use of VNAV in missed approach procedures is prohibited.
Editing of the runway extension waypoint distance during visual approach while it is the active
leg, is prohibited.
Editing the fuel quantity on the FUEL MGMT page is prohibited.
Automatic transition from FMS to ILS (NAV to NAV capture) is prohibited when in DCP
reversion.
The FMS with inputs from GPS may only be used for approach guidance if the reference
coordinate data system for the instrument approach is WGS–84 or NAD–83.
On airplanes 5301 to 5560 NOT incorporating Service Bulletin 604–31–015 or 604–34–031
Rev 1 or later revision:
Navigation must not be predicated on the expanded localizer displayed on the PFDs.

604–34–031:
The FMS thrust setting data is the primary means of information provided two air data
computers are available.
The FMS V speed data is the primary means of information provided two flight management
computers are available.
LBA Certified Airplanes
Thrust setting data and V speed data must be determined using the performance data
contained in this AFM and not using the FMS.
AR Certified Airplanes
The FMS V speed data is advisory only.

The FMS does not reduce available runway lengths for runways with displaced thresholds.
When using FMS approach performance data for a runway with a displaced threshold, the pilot
must manually enter the RWY LENGTH value with the actual available landing distance from a
published chart.
When RWY LENGTH is manually entered, the FMS does not compute headwind/crosswind;
these must be manually entered on the CDU.

On airplanes 5631 and subsequent NOT incorporating Service Bulletin 604–34–050 and
airplanes incorporating Service Bulletin 604–34–042 and NOT incorporating Service
Bulletin 604–34–050:
For Landing Field Length (LFL) and WET runway condition selected on the FMS APPROACH
REF page, a VSPEED OUT OF RANGE scratchpad message will be displayed. If the message
is not accompanied by an amber question mark on any of the four APPROACH REF pages,
then the message may be ignored.

2. NAVIGATION OPERATIONAL APPROVALS
The FMS has been demonstrated capable of and has been shown to meet the requirements for
