Fire protection. Each hydraulic system using .ammable hydraulic .uid must meet the applicable requirements of Secs. 29.861, 29.1183, 29.1185, and 29.1189.

FAR 29.1439 : Protective breathing equipment.

(a)
Ifoneormorecargoorbaggagecompartmentsaretobeaccessiblein .ight,protective breathing equipment must be available for an appropriate crewmember.

(b)
Forprotectivebreathing equipment requiredbyparagraph(a) ofthis section orby any operating rule of this chapter–

(1)
That equipment must be designed to protect the crew from smoke, carbon dioxide,and otherharmfulgaseswhileon .ightdeckduty;

(2)
That equipment must include–

(i)
Masks covering the eyes, nose, and mouth; or

(ii)
Maskscovering the noseand mouth,plus accessory equipmenttoprotect the eyes; and

 

(3)
That equipment must supply protective oxygen of 10 minutes duration per crewmember at a pressure altitude of 8,000 feet with a respiratory minute volume of 30 liters per minute BTPD.

 


FAR29.1457 :[Cockpit voice recorders.]
(a) [Eachcockpit voice recorder required by the operating rules of this chapter must be approved, and must be installed so that it will record the following :
(1)
Voice communicationstransmittedfrom orreceivedinthe rotorcraftby radio.

(2)
Voice communications of .ight crewmembers on the .ight deck.

(3)
Voice communications of .ight crewmembers on the .ight deck, using the ro-torcraft’s interphone system.

(4)
Voice or audio signals identifying navigation or approach aids introduced into a headset or speaker.

Subpart F : Equipment
(5) Voice communications of .ight crewmembers using the passenger loudspeaker system, if there is such a system, and if the fourth channel is available in accordance withthe requirements of subdivision(c)(4)(ii) ofthis section.
(b) The recording requirements of subparagraph(a)(2) of this section may be met–
(1)
By installing a cockpit-mounted areamicrophone,locatedinthebestposition for recording voice communications originating at the .rst and second pilot stations and voice communications of other crewmembers on the .ight deck when directed to those stations; or

(2)
By installing a continually energized or voice-actuated lip microphone at the .rst and second pilot stations.


The microphone speci.edinparagraph(b) mustbe solocated and,if necessary, the preampli.ers and .lters of the recorder must be so adjusted or supplemented, that the recorded communications are intelligible when recorded under .ight cockpit noise conditions and played back. The level of intelligibility must be approved by theAdministrator.Repeated aural orvisualplayback of the record maybe usedin evaluating intelligibility.
(c)
Each cockpitvoicerecordermustbeinstalled sothatthepart of the communication oraudiosignalsspeci.edinparagraph(a) of this sectionobtainedfromeach of the following sources is recorded on a separate channel :

(1)
For the .rst channel, from each microphone, headset, or speaker used at the .rst pilot station.

(2)
For the second channel,from each microphone,headset, or speaker used at the second pilot station.

(3)
For the thirdchannel,from the cockpit-mounted area microphone, or the conti-nually energized orvoice-actuatedlip microphonesatthe .rst and secondpilot stations.

(4)
For the fourth channel, from–

(i)
Each microphone, headset, or speaker used at the stations for the third and fourth crewmembers; or

(ii)
If the stations speci.ed in subdivision (i) or this subparagraph are not required or if the signal at such a station is picked up by another chan-nel, each microphone on the .ight deck that is used with the passenger loudspeaker system if its signals are not picked up by another channel.
