Press the plus (+) or minus (-) key until the mode you want shows. Push the set key to enter the mode.
The ACQ STATS mode shows these types of information:
*
Data type
*
Data rate
*
Number of seconds input data has been active for this recording session
*
Number of seconds data has been recorded for this session.
The DATA FILE STATS mode shows the status of the recorded data files. It has these subroutines:
*
REM DATA CAP -recording time left at the present record rate
*
REM REPORT CAP -recording time left in percent of full format for report data at the present record rate.
The CALENDAR CLOCK mode shows the time and date for the system. Use the TIME subroutine to set the time. Use the DATE subroutine to set the date.
The PROGRAM INFO mode shows the software version and date. It has VERSION INFO and BUILD DATE subroutines.
Use the DIAGNOSTICS mode to do a test of the QAR. This mode has these seven tests:
* ACQ SIMULATION (simulated acquisition)

*
LASER CALIB (laser calibration)
*
INPUT DISCRETES
*
OUTPUT DISCRETES
*
DISPLAY TEST
*
DISK TEST
*
SER PORTS (serial ports) TEST.
The ACQ SIMULATION test shows simulated data.
The LASER CALIBRATION test shows the results of the periodic laser calibration performed in normal operation. The display shows the percent of peak laser power (PLP), 80% PLP for example. The message SERV DRIVE ADVS shows if laser service is needed.
The INPUT DISCRETES test is not active.
The OUTPUT DISCRETES test lets the user change the state of the QAR discrete outputs.
The DISPLAY TEST causes:
*
All of the display pixels to come on
*
The QAR fail LED to come on
*
The MEDIA (TAPE) LOW output to be true.
The DISK TEST is a read/write test of the optical recording disk. The test results show on the display.
The SER PORTS TEST transmits a present message on all serial data ports. Replies scroll across the LCD display.
While the main menu shows, these other messages may show on the display:
*
DATA FILE FULL
*
INSERT CARTRIDGE
*
CARTRIDGE DETECT
*
EJECTING
*
EXTRACTING LEGS -when the data file is converted into separate files for each record session by flight legs
*
UPLOAD DISK -if a program disk is inserted.
Each mode, subroutine, and test has its own unique messages.
Reprogram Mode
The message UPLOAD DISK shows when you insert a program disk. Push SET and EJECT at the same time to start the program load. The program loads into flash memory.

ACMS -SYSTEM TEST
General
There is one system test for the ACMS. It is the left ACMF software reset test.
Left ACMF Software Reset Test
This test makes sure that the ACMF software in the CPM/ACMF operates correctly. The test erases all ACMF reports. This test may reveal failures of fault tolerant components which may not impact airworthiness. EICAS message indications are the final determinant.
The test takes about one minute.

AIRPLANE INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM -INTRODUCTION
Purpose
The airplane information management system (AIMS) collects and calculates large quantities of data. The AIMS manages this data for several integrated avionics systems. These systems are the:
*
Primary display system (PDS)
*
Central maintenance computing system (CMCS)
*
Airplane condition monitoring system (ACMS)
