Test Power Failure Light
(a)
Close No. 1 and 2 ENGINE THRUST REVERSER circuit breakers.
(b)
On P6-2 close LIGHT circuit breaker.
(c)
On P18-2 close FLIGHT RECORDER circuit breakers.
(d)
On P6-3 close following circuit breakers:
1) MASTER CAUTION BUS,
2) INDICATOR LIGHTS MASTER DIMMING BUS,
3) DIM and TEST.
(e)
Place TEST-NORMAL switch on flight recorder test module to NORMAL position.
(f)
On P5-19 (overhead panel) check that FLIGHT RECORDER FAILURE light on FLIGHT RECORDER MODULE, the two MASTER CAUTION lights and OVERHEAD MASTER CAUTION ANNUNCIATOR lights are on.
(g)
Press one of the two MASTER CAUTION lights and check that both MASTER CAUTION lights and overhead MASTER CAUTION annunciator lights go off.
(h)
Press and release the overhead MASTER CAUTION light and check that both MASTER CAUTION lights and the overhead MASTER CAUTION lights are on.
(i)
Check that the flight recorder test switch on FLIGHT RECORDER MODULE is in TEST position.
(3)
Test Event Marker Signals
(a)
On portable tester, select SUBFRAME O WORD 6 and check that BIT 2 light is off.
(b)
Press the EVENT pushbutton on trip and date encoder panel and check that BIT 2 light is on. Release EVENT pushbutton and check that BIT 2 light is off.
(4)
Test Trip and Data Encoder Signals
(a)
Check that trip and date encoder indicator light is off.
(b)
Press REPEAT button until indicator light comes on and stays on.
(c)
On portable tester, select SUBFRAME 0 WORD 6.
(d)
Check that BIT 2 light is on, and after 14 to 18 minutes trip and date encoder stops, the encoder light is off and BIT 2 light is off.

Test Magnetic Heading Signals
(a)
Set compass system to on.
(b)
On portable tester, select SUBFRAME 0 WORD 8.
(c)
Set the No. 2 compass system SET HDG or the SYNCH knob to values as shown in following table and check portable tester readout.
(6)
Test Acceleration Signals
(a) On portable tester, select SUBFRAME 0 WORD 9 and check that portable tester readout is 0000 to 0240. If third digit of octal readout is 2 or 6, BIT 5 will be on (acceleration greater than 1 g). If third digit of octal readout is 0 or 4, BIT 5 will be off (acceleration is 1 g or less).

Test Altitude Signals
(a)
On portable tester, select SUBFRAME 0 WORD 2. Select 0 feet altitude, 100 kn airspeed and check that portable tester readout is 7760 to 0120.
(b)
On portable tester, select SUBFRAME 0 WORD 3 and check that portable tester readout is 7660 to 0127.
(c)
On portable tester, select SUBFRAME 0, WORD, altitude and readout as shown in following table.

Test Airspeed Signals
(a)
On portable tester, select SUBFRAME 0 WORD 4.
(b)
Set airspeed readings as shown in following table and check that portable tester readout is as shown.
(9)
Test ATC Event (VHF) Signals
(a)
Obtain authorized VHF test frequencies and set VHF-1, VHF-2 and VHF-3 to authorized frequency.
(b)
Close VHF-1, VHF-2 and VHF-3 circuit breakers.
(c)
On the captain's audio selector panel press appropriate VHF-1, VHF-2 and VHF-3 mike selector. After each selection select SUBFRAME 0 WORD 6 and check that BIT 3 light is on.
(d)
Press the captain's PTT button and check that BIT 3 light goes off.
