• selects hot battery bus and APU hot battery bus power for towing
operation loads, including:
• captains audio control panel / flight interphone
• flight deck dome lights
• wing and tail position lights
• brakes
• applicable towing battery charge light illuminates, depending on current
battery voltage (HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW).
OFF – (BATTERY switch OFF and no AC power)
• removes power for towing operations
Illuminated (white) – the battery TOWING POWER switch is ON.
Electrical Synoptic Display
The electrical synoptic is displayed by pushing the systems (SYS) display switch
on the display select panel, then selecting the electrical (ELEC) synoptic key.
Display select panel operation is described in Chapter 10, Flight Instruments,

Circuit Breaker Indication and Control (CBIC)
The CBIC provides both indication and control for Electronic Circuit Breakers
(ECB), and indication only for Thermal Circuit Breakers (TCB). The CBIC can
be accessed from the Multi-Function Display (MFD). Selecting CB from the
systems menu displays the list of circuit breakers. The list can be sorted by various
categories. Individual circuit breakers operational status is represented by an icon,
depicted as follows:

System Description Section 20
Boeing Proprietary 6.20.1
6.20 Electrical-System Description Introduction
The Electrical Power Generation and Start System (EPGSS) generates,
distributes, controls, and protects airplane electrical power.
AC Electrical System
The AC electrical system is the main source for airplane electrical power.
AC Electrical System Power Sources
The main AC electrical power sources are:
• Variable Frequency Starter Generators (VFSG)
• APU Starter Generators (ASG)
• External power
• Ram Air Turbine (RAT).
Variable Frequency Starter Generators (VFSG)
Each engine has two Variable Frequency Starter Generators. The VFSGs function
as both starters and generators. They operate in tandem to electrically start the
engine, then function as generators to provide power to their respective main AC
buses.
Each VFSG has a disconnect device that allows the generator to be mechanically
disengaged from the engine. It is automatically activated when the VFSG sump
oil exceeds a predetermined temperature.
It may be activated manually by pushing the DRIVE DISC disconnect switches
on the electrical panel. The respective generator will then disconnect if its control
unit logic verifies that:
• airplane is on the ground, engine N2 is less than 80%, and fuel control
