GULFSTREAM AEROSPACE
GIV AIRPLANE FLIGHT MANUAL
SECTION 3
ABNORMAL
PROCEDURES
3-84 FAA APPROVED
31 May 2000
3-17-00: HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
3-17-20: Utility Hydraulic Pump:
With the UTILITY PUMP - OFF/ARM switch depressed and the UTILITY PUMP - ON switch
extended, the utility hydraulic pump will automatically be actuated if Combined Hydraulic
System pressure is below 800 psi.
NOTE: The UTILITY HYDRAULIC PUMP may be Selected OFF to conserve pump life (when
above conditions exist) and there is NO indication of Utility System pressure. This may
be done by placing the UTILITY PUMP - OFF/ARM switch to extended position,
resulting in the NOT ARM light in switch illuminating and UTILITY PUMP - ON
switch light extinguishing.

SECTION 3
ABNORMAL
PROCEDURES
FAA APPROVED 3-85
30 May 2002
3-17-30: Combined Hydraulic System Failure:
With a loss of Combined system fluid, the airplane may be safely flown and landed using the
following procedures.
1. Utility Pump.............................................................................................................NOT ARM
APPROACH AND LANDING
CAUTION: IF THE FLAP SYSTEM IS THE SUSPECTED CAUSE OF THE LEAK, DO
NOT OPERATE AUX HYDRAULIC PUMP. PULL BOTH FLAP CONTROL
AND MANUAL FLAP CONTROL CIRCUIT BREAKERS BEFORE TURNING
ON THE AUX PUMP FOR LANDING. THIS WILL ENSURE THAT AUX
FLUID AND PRESSURE ARE AVAILABLE FOR BRAKING AFTER
LANDING.
NOTE: If it is determined flaps are not the cause of fluid loss, set flaps to 20° using Auxiliary
Hydraulic Pump Pressure.
Plan a 20° flap landing.
1. Flap Handle..........................................................................................................................20°
2. Gear Handle ...................................................................................................................DOWN
3. Airspeed ...............................................................................................175 KCAS (maximum)
4. Gear........................................................................................EXTEND using alternate system
5. Gear Position..................................................................................CHECK DOWN/3 GREEN
6. Flap Position ............................................................................................................. Verify 20°
7. GPWS/GND SPLR FLAP ORIDE ...................................................................................... ON

SECTION 3
ABNORMAL
PROCEDURES
3-86 FAA APPROVED
31 May 2000
Prior to touchdown:
8. Ground Spoilers ...........................................................................................................ARMED
9. Aux Hyd Pump .................................................................................................................... ON
NOTE: Nose Wheel Steering and Left Thrust Reverser will not be available for landing.
After Landing:
10. Use brakes and rudder as required to maintain directional control. Expect diminished
braking capability due to low output of the Aux Hydraulic Pump and demand of the brakes.
11. Use Right Thrust Reverser as necessary for deceleration.
With Left Engine Shutdown or Left Engine Fire Handle Pulled or Combined Hydraulic
pump failed:
1. Utility Pump.............................................................................................................NOT ARM
APPROACH AND LANDING
1. Utility Pump.............................................................................................On (Manually Select)
2. Gear.....................................................................................................EXTEND NORMALLY
3. Flaps.........................................................................................EXTEND NORMALLY to 39°
4. Ground Spoilers ...........................................................................................................ARMED
AFTER LANDING
On touchdown, the brakes, steering and right thrust reverser operate normally. The left thrust
reverser will not deploy.

SECTION 3
ABNORMAL
PROCEDURES
FAA APPROVED 3-87
31 May 2000
3-17-40: Flight Hydraulic System Failure:
With a loss of Flight System fluid, the Right Engine Fire Handle Pulled or Flight Hydraulic
Pump failed, will result in loss of the Yaw Damper function. Select Yaw Damper OFF. If the
Right Engine is shutdown but windmilling, Yaw Damper function may be available. See YAW
