increasing power to maximum continuous setting or by selecting COWL ANTIICE
ON at higher altitudes. If unable to attain 35 psi or greater or if selecting cowl
anti-ice ON results in COOL TURB HOT message, descend to lower altitude until
cabin rate of climb is controllable. Select cowl anti-ice OFF if COOL TURB HOT
message persists.
9. After smoke/fumes dissipate, locate the source of the smoke/fumes and extinguish/eliminate.
NOTE: If the source of the smoke/fumes cannot be eliminated, consideration should be given
to descending to 20,000 ft. along with increasing cabin altitude to 20,000 ft. in attempt
to starve the smoke/fumes source. Proceed to nearest suitable airport and land if
smoke/fumes persist.
10. Cabin pressurization may be returned to normal by:
A. Baggage Door Handle .............................................RETURN TO NORMAL (CLOSED)
(for airplanes SN 1000 thru 1155 without ASC 157).
B. Baggage Door Seal Selector Valve ..........................................................NORMAL OPS
(for airplanes SN 1000 thru 1155 with ASC 157 and airplanes SN 1156 and
subsequent).

PROCEDURES
4-68 FAA APPROVED

4-24-00: THRUST REVERSER SYSTEM
4-24-10: Reverse Thrust Unlock or Deploy:
1. During takeoff, if the REV UNLOCK and/or REV DEPLOY light and REV UNLOCK
warning activate, proceed as follows:
A. At speeds below V1; ABORT takeoff and perform ENGINE FAILURE DURING
TAKEOFF BELOW V1 SPEED procedures as provided in this Section.
B. At speeds above V1; reduce power of affected engine and continue as with one engine
inoperative.
C. Maintain airspeed less than 200 KCAS.
D. When the situation permits, depress the T/REV EMER STOW switch. If Warning
message and lights extinguish, land as soon as practical. Reverse thrust will not be
available on landing. Both engines will be available for landing.
E. If Thrust Reverser does not restow (Warning message and lights illuminated), land as
soon as possible using maximum of 20° flaps if T/R doors are actually deployed.
F. If actuating the T/REV EMER STOW switch causes the opposite REV UNLOCK light
to illuminate, deselect T/REV EMER STOW switch and land as soon as practical.
2. During flight, if the REV UNLOCK and/or REV DEPLOY lights and appropriate EICAS
Warning illuminates; proceed as follows:
NOTE: The REV UNLOCK light may illuminate at high power settings if hydraulic system
pressure is lost.
A. Ensure the reverser power levers are in the stowed position and retard power lever of
the affected engine to idle.
B. Reduce airspeed to less than 200 KCAS.
C. Depress the T/REV EMERG STOW switch. If the Warning message and lights
extinguish, leave switch depressed for remainder of flight and land as soon as practical.
Both engines are available for remainder of flight.

D. If Thrust Reverser does not restow (Warning message and lights illuminated), land as
soon as possible. Land using maximum of 20° flaps if T/R doors are actually deployed.
E. If actuating the T/REV EMER STOW switch causes the opposite REV UNLOCK light
to illuminate, deselect the T/REV EMER STOW switch and land as soon as practical.
If unable to stow the reverser, leave affected engine in idle. Anticipate a higher drag condition
with a deployed reverser and land as soon as practical. Do not extend flaps beyond 20° during
landing to avoid increase in idle RPM with resultant increase in reverse thrust. When landing
with 20° of flaps, select the Ground Spoiler Flap Override switch to ON to ensure automatic
deployment of ground spoilers on touchdown.
CAUTION: IN ANY SITUATION WHERE REVERSER WILL NOT RESTOW, AFFECTED
ENGINE SHOULD BE SHUTDOWN ONLY IF REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN
LEVEL FLIGHT. UNDER CERTAIN GROSS WEIGHT AND ATMOSPHERIC
CONDITIONS, SUCCESSFUL GO-AROUND MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE.
NOTE: For Thrust Reversers unlocked prior to engine start, see Section 3, ABNORMAL
Procedures.
3. REV UNLOCK light illuminated on the ground:
CAUTION: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DEPLOY AND RESTOW THE AFFECTED
REVERSER. DAMAGE CAN OCCUR TO AN ACTUATOR’S PRIMARY
LOCK IF IT IS UNLOCKED WITHOUT MAINTAINING STOW SIDE
PRESSURE ABOVE 1200 PSI. THE ACUTATOR COULD BE DAMAGED
REQUIRING REPLACEMENT AND/OR LOCK DOWN PROCEDURES MORE
RESTRICTIVE THAN THE INITIAL FAILURE WOULD DICTATE.
A. Return for maintenance action prior to next takeoff.
