ARTEX rec om mends that a “drip loop”
be placed in the wire har ness near
the ELT to pre vent mois ture from
wicking into the ELT con nec tor, be
sure to al low suf fi cient slack in the
wire if do ing this.
Strip about .125" of in sulation from
the ends of each of the ca ble wires.
Dress the bare wires to pre vent the
strands from fray ing dur ing the crimp
ter mi nal in stallation.
Fab ri cate an ad di tional wire long
enough to reach from pin 11 of the
ELT con nec tor to an air craft ground
point as close as pos si ble to the
ELT. Strip and pre pare as de scribed
above. If the air craft ground in teg rity
be tween the ELT and re mote cock pit
panel can not be guar an teed, pre pare
an ad di tional wire to con nect to this
ground point and to the re mote panel.
Re fer to Fig ure 3-10.
On the ELT end of the ca ble (22-pin
circular con nec tor ARTEX P/N
150-5061), use crimp tool
M22520/7-01 with die M22570/7-06 or
equiv a lent tool and crimp the con tact
pins pro vided (ARTEX P/N 151-6657)
to each of the ca ble wires which will
mate with the 22-pin cir cu lar con nec -
tor. Use in sertion tool
MS27495A22MS (or equiv a lent) to in -
sert the con tact pins into the cir cular
con nec tor. Each pin should “click” into

On the other end of the ca ble, crimp
the fe male ter minal pins pro vided
(ARTEX P/N 151-6628), us ing Molex
crimp tool # 11-01-0008 (or equiv a -
lent), to each of the 4 (or 5 if ad di -
tional ground wire is re quired) ca ble
wires. This end will join with the 9-pin
Molex con nec tor on the cock pit panel
switch as sembly.
NOTE: All wir ing must be in stalled in
accordance with AC 43.13-1A.
