 Part I
1. General 
A. Winglet (Figure 1) 
The winglet is primarily constructed of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP).  The CFRP components consists of the following:  The front, center and rear spars, and the upper and lower skin panels.  Other components, such as, the leading edge skin panels, internal ribs, trailing edge arrowhead and the winglet tip fairing are primarily of aluminum construction.  The winglet is attached to the adapter plug, which in turn, is attached to the wing. 
B. Adapter Plug (Figure 1) 
The adapter plug is a transitional structural component between the wing closure rib (rib 27 at WBL 740.0) and the blended winglet, providing winglet position for optimal performance.  The adapter plug components are primarily of aluminum construction with fiberglass reinforced plastic (FGRP) leading edge and trailing edge skin panels. Two static dischargers are mounted on the trailing edge upper surface.
