Normal Operation -Climb
During climb, the lower left TVBC shutoff valve is used to keep the turbine cavity seal temperature in limits. The other two shutoff valves stay open to send air to the number 3 bearing buffer air cooler and to cool the 2nd through 5th stage vanes and the 2nd stage blades.

During cruise, the upper left and the right TVBC shutoff valves will close. The lower left TVBC shutoff valve and the TVC air valve provide airflow to the vanes and keep the turbine cavity seal temperature in limits.

Non-normal Operation
A failure of the EEC torque motor signal, causes the TVC air valve actuator to fully open the TVC air valve.
The TVBC shutoff valves will open without a solenoid signal or PS3 servo air.
