The EEC sends a signal to the solenoids in the TVBC air shutoff valve solenoid assembly. Filtered PS3 servo air closes the TVBC air shutoff valves. This decreases the supply of 12th stage air to the HPT and LPT areas.

The EEC sends TVBC air shutoff valve solenoid fault data to the AIMS. The EEC also sends TVC air valve actuator position and fault data to the AIMS.

AIR -TVBC SYSTEM -TVBC AIR SHUTOFF VALVE SOLENOID AND PNEUMATIC RELAY VALVE

Purpose
The TVBC air shutoff valve solenoid and pneumatic relay valve controls the supply of PS3 servo air to the TVBC air shutoff valves and the thrust balance air shutoff valve.
Location
The TVBC air shutoff valve solenoid and pneumatic relay valve are on the intermediate case at the 1:00 position.
TVBC Air Shutoff Valve Solenoid
There are two solenoids in a common housing. Either solenoid controls the PS3 servo air to the TVBC air shutoff valves and the thrust balance air shutoff valve.
Pneumatic Relay Valve
The relay valve lets the PS3 servo air close two of the three TVBC shutoff valves and the thrust balance air shutoff valve. If there is an engine surge, the valve quickly bleeds PS3 servo air to open the shutoff valves.

The TVBC air shutoff valves control the flow of 12th stage air to the HPT 2nd stage vanes and blades.
BEJ ALL
The TVBC air shutoff valves control the flow of 12th stage air to the HPT 2nd stage vanes and blades, the LPT 3rd through 5th stage vanes, and the No. 3 bearing buffer air cooler.
Location
One TVBC air shutoff valve on the right side of the HPC case at the 2:00 position.
