Forward Mount Pads
The forward mount pad is at the 12:00 position and attaches to the forward mount assembly. It absorbs engine torque and vertical loads.
Two forward mount thrust bracket pads are at the 10:30 and 1:30 positions. The pads are attached to thrust brackets that absorb engine torque and thrust loads.

ENGINE -FAN CASE REMOVAL

General
You can remove large engine components to move the engine over a long distance. The fan case and core engine separate easily.
You must remove the inlet cone, fan blades, and six fan exit inner case support segments before you remove the fan case. You must replace the support segment bolts after each segment is removed.
You can use ground support equipment or an overhead crane to remove the fan case from the core engine.
Nine intermediate case struts are a close fit to the attachment points on the core engine. The struts and core are held together by 9 bolts at each strut (81 bolts total).
Training Information Point
To install the fan case, you use a special tool to align and position the intermediate case struts on the core engine.

ENGINE -MAIN AND ANGLE GEARBOX -COMPONENT LOCATIONS

General
The HPC shaft turns gears in the main gearbox. The gears turn the engine accessories. The gearbox is on the bottom of the HPC case.
Accessory drive couplings, except the pneumatic starter, are wet splines. Engine oil lubricates them. Removable carbon-type oil seals are on the couplings.
You get access to the MGB and the angle gearbox (AGB) with the thrust reverser assemblies open.
