 6)  You need to use instrumental NDI methods or tap tests to find composite structure damage you cannot see.
 NOTE: Damage you cannot see, such as delamination,
____ can extend to the areas around the damaged area you can see. Delamination can be detected by instrumental NDI methods or by a tap test. For a tap test, use a solid metal disk and tap the area adjacent to the damaged area lightly. If there is delamination, you will hear a sound that is different than the sound of a solid bonded area. Refer to the Nondestructive Test Manual D634N301.

 (2)  Examine the Zone 2 (Figure 201) surface areas for signs of lightning strike damage.
