8) Difference between flow rate step (f)5) and (f)7) is leakage for autopilot A
elevator actuator. Maximum permissible 2000 cc/min. 9) Place POWER switch on test set - OFF. 10) Place SOLENOID EXCITATION [PISTON/ENGAGE] switches (2) - OFF. 11) Remove J1 cable from autopilot A elevator actuator. 12) Install connector D1681 to autopilot A elevator actuator. 13) Close AUTOPILOT circuit breakers (P6 and P18).
(9) Check Internal leakage SP-177 Autopilot (A/P) Actuators using the Autopilot Flight Control System Built In Test Equipment (AFCS BITE - procedure 5).
NOTE: Two autopilot actuator internal leakage test procedures pare provided in the following paragraphs. Section C(8) utilizes the F80217-103 Test Set and section C(9) utilizes the AFCS BITE. Either of these two procedures may be used to test the internal leakage of the autopilot actuators.
(a)
Prepare for check per par. C.(3).
NOTE: The flow measuring method outlined in 1.C.(3)(d) is recommended for this procedure. If 1.C.(3)(c) is used, connect the hydraulic service cart to the B hydraulic system.
(b)
Open ground interconnect valve.
(c)
Provide system A & B hydraulic power (Ref 29-11-0 and 29-12-0 MP).
(d)
Position A & B flight control switches to ON.
(e)
Make sure isolation valves 1 thru 6 are open.
(f)
Test A & B aileron A/P actuators.
1) Connect flow measuring device to the #1 OR #2 system B electric motor pump or use flowmeter on ground service cart.
NOTE: If using electric motor pump for ground power, use only #1 OR #2 pump to pressurize the systems depending on which pump has flow measuring device connected to it.
2) Enter AFCS BITE as follows:
NOTE: This step engages the A OR B A/P's for the aileron and elevator.
a) Turn the control switch on the Control Display Unit (CDU) to the STBY
position. b) Press RCL and - key on CDU. c) Press PAGE key on CDU until the CDU displays A/P TEST\....
SYMPTOM/PIREP TEST DESIRED. d) Press ENT keys on CDU and the CDU will change message to GROUND FUNCT.

3) Close isolation valves 1-6.
NOTE: If ammeter is used as flow measuring device, record all flow readings in terms of current. Convert to flow using Fig. 604 as final step after all subtractions have been made.
4) Allow flow to stabilize and take reading for A system ail. A/P actuator + basic reference leakage. Record A system flow on Fig. 609 as step #1 - A ail. + basic ref.
5) Disengage A/P A.
6) Engage A/P B to CMD.
