TGA is the maximum temperature at which the approach climb gradient condition can be satisfied
as a function of weight. The chart presents two TGAs (associated with two different flap settings) in
order to allow the pilot to choose the more appropriate one in view of the scheduled landing weight
and temperature. The configurations 2 and 3 specified under TGA are the configurations in which
the required gradient of 2.1 % is satisfied when one engine failed. The single-engine approach is
normally performed with the flaps one step further down until the pilot decides to overshoot, whereas
the two-engine approach is performed with the flaps set up to two steps (if applicable) beyond the
indicated flap position. In both cases, the pilot retracts one step of flaps when electing to go around.
The aircraft establishes the required gradient of 2.1 % at the airport reference altitude. The thrust
setting is TOGA with the air conditioning ON. The speed is 1.23 VS for the specified configuration.
The TGA temperature is also published for weights higher than the maximum landing weight in order
to cover the overweight landing condition.

The maximum structural takeoff weight is a weight limitation depending on the aircraft. This limitation
is provided in the Flight Manual and in the chapter limitation of the FCOM.
Compare the maximum structural takeoff weight to the maximum permissible takeoff weight
computed for given conditions and retain the lower of the two values.
